MOONLIT NIGHTS & NORTHERN LIGHTS is the continuation of the Killigrew Street Case Files. Each story is a different couple with a continued overall plot throughout. A real adventure with two men that find their perfect match may be unexpected and wonderful.
From the blurb:
How to survive fake dating your telepathic arch nemesis during an undercover mission in Scotland:
1. Don't think horrible thoughts about him in case he's listening in. The creep.
2. Ensure Freddy the zombie ferret doesn't bite him. Much.
3. Try not to call him Detective Dickface (unless he really deserves it).
4. Don't let him find out you're catching feelings for him.
Rory
Imagine my surprise when my missing ex-boyfriend's phone pings back to life in the one place I swore I'd never set foot in again: home. Home to the pack I left years ago, where I’d learned I’d never be enough.
I'm probably mad for agreeing to go—after all, the pack gathering I've been invited to is definitely a trap—but even more crazily, I'm being sent with a man who hates my guts. The detective who threw me into a cell during a full moon, condemning me to an agony that I still have nightmares over.
It doesn’t help that he's hotter than hell. Thankfully, he's straight, otherwise the way he looks at me sometimes might put ideas in my head… If I were ever able to forgive him, of course.
Theodore
He's loud. He's infuriating. He thinks it's okay to insult me to my face.
So why have I agreed to partner up with Rory Thorne to investigate missing shifters?
And even worse, why have I agreed to pretend to be his boyfriend?!
Being a telepath means I've always kept the world at arm's length. I don't have time for tiny wolves with chaotic energy and ridiculous hair and eyes that taunt me with their enigmatic colour—an ocean-forest riddle that distracts me more than I care to admit.
Can the two of us pull off our undercover mission? Possibly, if we don't kill each other first...
Or, even worse, kiss.
Contains: a bi-awakening in a moonlit forest, only one bed because the hotel clerk ships them, a zombie ferret that likes to get bitey, wolf cuddles, “let’s get this out of our system,” and a rather mysterious zapping thing…
Moonlit Nights and Northern Lights is the second in the Killigrew Street Case Files series, a collection of MM PNRs centered around a found family of supernatural detectives. Each can be read as a standalone, but start from book one for maximum enjoyment.
Molly Otto's review:
From the previous book you knew you were in for a ride with Rory and Theodore but I was not prepared for this one. The tension is palpable you feel the anxiety on both sides of what they've been through to be the men they are now. To the breaking point of seeing both sides of their story, the calmness of them needing each other yet still the choas gremlins that is Rory even with the steadiness of Theodore to calm him mind. The banter of this story is truly top tier some of the best I've read in a long time. Loved the banter continued even when they started to allow each other in, showing that is their love language. Some couples are sweet some are pure snarky banter. Yet they work for each other and make each other better for it.
The continued plot keeps on plotting pulling you deeper into this universe. I cannot wait to see what happens next and who ends up being with who.
SNik's review:
Second in series (The Killigrew Street Case Files), best if read in order. Paranormal. Adversarial to lovers. Fake relationship. Only one bed. Mates. Found family. Hurt/comfort. Slow burn. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.
I know I'm a bit late to the game when it comes to reading and reviewing this majestic masterpiece but I have had my eye on this story since it was first announced. Rory's character fascinated me in the first book and I was excited to get to know his character better and learn more about his past. Although, to be honest, the main draw for me was Freddie. He had more of a role in this book and I loved that for the little undead feral rodent!
Plus, he might like to bite people but he also knows how to help out when it counts which is important. He's my favorite side character hands down.
Now that I yapped about Freddie, onto discussing the MC's! These two were precious together but at times I really wanted to give them a little shake.. these two had some definite enemies to lovers vibes going on and the angst was off the charts! These two despised each other at the start but eventually worked through their misconceptions and learned things about the other person that they hadn't known prior. I really enjoyed how their romance was more of a slow burn, there was a really lovely buildup of tension between these two. Just simmering right under the surface waiting to boil over. And when it DID boil over.. all I can say is wow. Even when they admitted their feelings they didn't lose their sharp quips or their habit of getting into arguments just to settle them a few minutes later and I loved that for them.
Their banter was hilarious, intriguing, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and at times incredibly packed full of emotion. I loved reading about these two together!
The aspect of Theo's mind reading abilities was written really interestingly! I've never read something quite like it before which I loved! It wasn't glorified as some super power but as something that Theo has struggled with his whole life. Not just from hearing everyone's every thought but also being judged for having that ability, it made it rough for him to form bonds because of it. 💔 Even though it took him time to get there and to be accepted, I'm really glad he was welcomed into Killigrew Street and ended up with Rory.
Now I'm going to go read the next book in this AMAZING series! You can read this as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading this series in order for maximum enjoyment and to have the most information. There is an overarching plotline so it's nice to have all the relevant details plus knowing what happened before when it gets referenced.

DI Theodore Maxwell may help out the Killigrew Street team with supernatural investigations but that doesn’t mean wolf shifter Rory has to like him. But now they are looking for a missing shifter and Rory has to return to his former pack to investigate with Theo acting as his fake boyfriend, boy are they in trouble.
There was so much to love about this story, from the clashing main characters, to the supportive found family, to the increasing mystery and danger of the story’s investigation. I really enjoyed how Rory and Theo’s relationship went from tolerating each other to understanding and appreciation to liking and then love. With Rory’s insecurities and Theo’s compassion, every moment with them on page together was terrific and eventually super steamy. And the fact that the investigation ramped up into something that was intense and urgent had me turning the pages and holding my breath at times. Such a great addition to this series, and I can’t wait for more.
