Snow White and the Seven Little Miners (The GriMM Tales) by Kit Barrie

What started off as a tragedy turned into something immensely beautiful, Snow marks the end of an incredible series.

From the blurb:

Once upon a time, a beautiful prince met seven little men.

Obsessed with beauty and perfection, The Evil Queen did not anticipate the day that her only son would become fairer than she. Desperate to save himself, Prince Makellos flees into the woods. Luck brings him to the house of seven little men exiled to work in the mines, digging gems for The Queen. Makellos finds that they need him as much as he needs them, and love blossoms in the little hideaway.

But the jealous Queen will stop at nothing to kill the son who has grown to outshine her. Will the seven little men be able to protect the prince they’ve become so fond of, or will evil triumph at last? Will everyone in Falchovari finally get their Happily Ever After?

Each book set in the GriMM fairytale world can be read as a standalone and contains its own Happily Ever After story. But we do recommend reading each one, as the tales are connected to each other in multiple magical ways.

Angel's review:

Makellos, Prince, Fairest of them all, Snow... Makellos has known many names, many titles have been bestowed upon him but none has ever felt more right and more true than Snow.. the name his lovers graciously gave him.

This story is not like the fairytale we're familiar with but it has its similarities that make it feel familiar. I've loved seeing this series come to life and seeing the creativity all of these authors have had with making these fairy tales their own. The characters they've created are ones that I'll be thinking about from now on and this series is one that I will be re-reading and recommending to others.

The Evil Queen has been the evil protagonist that has played a massive role in all of these books in one way or another. Everyone wanted her reign to come to an end, and with the help of familiar faces, and new ones, her time has finally come to an end.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone so I'll try to keep this more brief, but oh my gosh, this story is absolutely incredible!! Kit, thank you for writing such beautiful characters, and for wrapping up this incredible series with a bright red bow. I am so sad to see this series come to an end but oh what a way to go!

The writing was impeccable, immensely detailed and all the characters have such vibrant personalities and all are so important to the story. Even the woodland critters played a big role in this story which I absolutely adored! Each of the men who live within the quaint little cottage opened up their house, their hearts, and their bodies to Snow, and their romance, the journey they all went on together, is truly so beautiful and the most magical of them all.

Lori C's review:

Prince Makellos is the son of the evil Queen. When his beauty grows greater than hers, she tries to have her own son killed. First the Huntsman tries but he can’t hurt the child he has known from birth. Then the Queen’s Shadow Geist tries, but his freedom from her evil magick comes before the deed is complete. Well why send men, when it is obvious she must do it herself?

This story is so well written. All of these tales have followed their origins and even so there are surprises along the way. Snow White/Prince Makellos finds passion in the arms of the seven miners. He is their good boy, their Snow White, and he loves them with every bit of his kind heart. I loved how the Miners welcomed Snow to their family. They kept him safe and showered him with attention and affection that he had never had before.

I read the entire book in one sitting. It flows so well and I so wanted to see the end of the evil queen. I enjoyed seeing Zel, Ulrich, and the Guild back to help even the score and rebuild the kingdom. I am so glad that this series was written. I think the best remedy to any ailment is getting lost in a story. The best part of the series being the final words of the epilogue “And they all lived happily ever after.”
