Puck Shots (Love the Game) by Becca Jackson

Part of the Love the Game combined author universe. PUCK SHOT is a hockey player and physics major low angst sweet romance.

From the blurb:

I’m here to play hockey, get drafted, and maybe break a few campus records while I’m at it. My plan is simple, keep my head down, my skates sharp, and my name on the scouts’ radar.

Babysitting a legacy was not part of the plan.

Eli shows up to rush Kappa Omega Kappa looking like he got lost on the way to chess club. He’s quiet, awkward, and clearly has no clue what he’s doing in a house full of loud, alpha-type frat bros. But on day one, his quiet confidence somehow gets under my skin.

Then he goes and builds this crazy program that helps fine-tune my slap shot, and I realize there’s way more to him than shy smiles and nervous energy. He’s brilliant, thoughtful, and kind of a menace in the best way.

I was supposed to keep an eye on him. Instead, I can’t stop looking.

And suddenly, the biggest thing on the line this season... might be my heart.

Molly Otto's review:

Eli but no means is your typical jock KOK frat pledge, yet as a legacy he does it anyway. Cosmo is asked from his brother Calvin to look out for Eli, his teammates Johns little brother, so the other pledges don't give him a hard time for not being like rest of the pledge class. These two hit it off immediately and just show they may be opposite in many ways but that doesn't mean that their interests can't cross and blend beautifully. Cosmo allows Eli to show his true nerdy self to this jock centered fraternity and help his frat brothers in turn see how well he fits in with them even if he is not what any of them expected.

Becca does what she does best in this low angst sweet romance of an athlete and someone not quite in the mold blending together. It was fun to see how different Cosmo is from his big bro Brent (from Full Tilt from Becca Seymour in this universe) as well as how he is different from Calvin who we and came to know and fell in love with in TOTALLY PLAYED from Becca's Love in Play (banana ball-based series). It was great to see how supportive and crazy his family is from his side versus his siblings. And yes, this keeps me wanting to read who tames Tony so he to can have his HEA as his siblings have gotten. Another great read from an author I've come to rely on from sweet low angst reads.
