A great start to Made Marian Legacy series! A kiss not forgotten and a chance to see if it can become something real.
From the blurb:
One kiss changed everything.
As sheriff, I’m the guy people call for help.
But when my solo Hawaii trip gets hijacked by my clingy ex, suddenly I’m the one who needs saving.
My unlikely rescuer?
A gorgeous stranger who plants one breathtaking, reckless kiss on me in the middle of a crowded bar—sending my ex packing…and stealing my carefully guarded heart.
Tommy Marian kissed me like he knew me.
Like he wanted me.
Like I was his.
Like he was mine.
But he’s not.
He’s a straight, ambitious city doctor—here in paradise for his own damn wedding.
And I’m going home alone, as usual.
Six months later, I land a dream search and rescue gig in Legacy, Montana.
One summer. A break from my coupled-up friends. Zero distractions.
Except guess who’s freshly single…and bunking in my tiny cabin? The biggest distraction of my life.
Tommy Marian is still beautiful, still infuriating, and still everything I can’t want.
He says what happens in Legacy stays in Legacy.
I say I’m not even tempted.
At least one of us is lying.
Because when Tommy disappears on the mountain, I realize I’d burn the world to get him back....
And maybe this time, I won’t let him go.
Lesetiger's review:
It's been a while since I've read anything by the Marians, and when I saw the blurb, I knew I had to listen to the book! Unfortunately, I couldn't just listen to it casually, because the story completely captivated me: great characters, an interesting setting, action and drama, a brief reunion with protagonists from earlier books, and a wonderful writing style. So once I started the audiobook, I couldn't press pause.
I found the beginning very humorous, when Foster and Tommy meet in Hawaii and Tommy tries to help Foster out of a tight spot. Six months later, they unexpectedly meet again at a search and rescue training center.
I immediately took Tommy into my heart. He is charming and loving, has a stressful job, and after the events in Hawaii, he can't forget Foster. He also needs a change in his life. Foster is very likable and sexy, but he seems quite grumpy, even though he's just trying to protect his heart, and I can understand him so well.
Sparks flew in Hawaii, but they definitely fly again when they meet again—the two have great chemistry that you can feel right away when reading.
The search and rescue theme provides both suspense and extremely good entertainment, so the audiobook hours just fly by.
I was thoroughly entertained, and yes, I was already familiar with both the author and the narrator, but this book had me hooked from start to finish. It offers humor, suspense, lots of emotion, steamy scenes, a sweet romance, of course, a captivating plot, and an absolutely adorable puppy!!!
Michael Dean delivered a brilliant performance. He had a pleasant speaking pace and chose appropriate voices for the protagonists. He conveys the emotions very well, read in a very entertaining way, and brought the story to life. It was a pleasure to listen to him!
I'm already looking forward to the next volume!
