Family competition makes these two enemies. Attraction could change it. Can Rhett and Aiden overcome family expectations and make their own future?
From the blurb:
He was my forbidden enemy. My darkest temptation. And the one person who could destroy everything I've built.
Rhett
Some rivalries run deeper than blood. Ours runs deeper than hate.
Aiden Whitmore was never supposed to be on my team. Not after what his family did to mine.
Not after the hostile takeover that nearly destroyed us.
But he's here, skating circles around my defenses with that cocky smirk and those green eyes that see straight through me.
I should stay away. I should remember why I hate him.
Instead, I'm thinking about his hands on my skin and the way he looked at me in that library.
Enemies. Teammates. Obsessions.
This isn't just about hockey anymore. And I'm about to lose the only game that matters.
Aiden
He wants me gone. I want him on his knees.
Rhett Morrison thinks he's better than me. More honorable, more deserving, more everything.
He doesn't know about the pressure crushing me from all sides. And he doesn’t want to bend.
But he will.
I see the way he watches me in the locker room.
I know how his body responds when I pin him against the wall.
He can hate my name all he wants. By the time I'm done with him, he'll be moaning it.
Price of Victory is a hockey romance and the fifth and final book in The Saints of Westmont U series. It follows two enemies from rival families in a forced proximity teammates situation, family business warfare, and explosive hate-to-love chemistry. While each book can be read on its own, reading in order will be more fun.
SNik's review:
Fifth in series (The Saints of Westmont U), but can be read as a standalone. Enemies to lovers. Teammates. Slow burn. Dual POV.
When the son of his family’s rivals joins his college hockey team, Rhett knows his senior year will be ruined. Aiden has always enjoyed annoying Rhett, even when they were kids, but now the simmering attraction that they both feel makes him want to push all of Rhett’s buttons to see if he will cave.
This story has two unexpected teammates dealing with family expectations while both are unsure whether to take their blossoming relationship seriously. There was definite animosity and hurt feelings to overcome for Aiden and Rhett, and that part felt relatable as they were both under the pressure of their family successes. I appreciated that Aiden doesn’t have an ulterior motive, just pure lust, which turns quickly for him to something more so he is not being dishonest with Rhett. When they move to spending time together it made sense that they fall deeply for each other. This was an entertaining and sweet read.
Reed Kaye's review:
The most important part of this review, I hate that this is the last of the series. I love these characters. I love these stories and while I enjoy the stories this author writes I will miss these characters.
This story centers around Rhett and Aiden. These guys have had a hate relationship since they were small kids. It is more because of family than anything. Then Aiden transfers to the college and hockey team Rhett is enrolled in. Aiden has a great pretend personality and always appears a level above others and Rhett is more the want to be part of the group type guy. Their competition gets to the point that someone might get hurt then situations change and they both find out who each actually is.
I love the background of this story and the family dynamics. I enjoyed the way their actual personality came out to the other. I would have enjoyed a look into their future, maybe five or ten years later. But I really enjoyed the story.
Heather's Review:
We come to the end of the Saints of Westmount U series... and what a finale! Family rivalry, differing world views and heated passion... what more can you ask for? Well, hockey of course! I love the way family dynamics and their roles in the family play into this story and how much of an impact their relationship has on those dynamics and vice versa... this was a book that I couldn't put down!
