*Enzo contains morally gray characters, a traumatic injury, disability rep, an established couple, and the question ‘Does love really conquer all?’. This is a spin-off from the All’s Fair series. Prior reading of both All I Survive and Doc (Book 1 in The Amato Family series) is encouraged.*
Molly Otto's review:
Enzo is a side story to Abriannas All’s Fair series. Enzo has been a bodyguard for the Amato family since he could and that has been his entire life along with relationship with Kail and his family. These two men have a committed and beautifully balanced relationship that most couples should strive to have. When a devastating work injury happens the couple is put to the test. Both men are strong willed and their new normal is tested and forges a bond stronger than before.
Abrianna shows how much a emotional story they can punch into a shorter story. You feel everything these men are experiencing and understand the hardship and the eventual triumphs of the couple. As you see the decline of Enzos mental stability and how the trauma affects him and his relationship, you root for him to find the help he needs to be the man he was. Kail is steadfast as the trauma affected him and his unwavering support of Enzo in these difficult times. A beautiful read that was well worth the wait.
Prior reading to DOC and the Alls Fair series is encouraged to see the events leading up to this and why this story is a necessity to see Enzo and his side of the events of the past books.
Enzo and Kail's story isn't your typical romance story. These two already have an established relationship going into this book, this story explores how they cope with an unexpected loss and injury, and how to keep going onwards together.
I thought this was a great story, I haven't read the All's Fair series so I was going into this book reading it as a standalone. I'm happy to tell you that it CAN be read as a standalone, I'm sure reading the other books will provide more depth but I enjoyed reading Enzo without prior reading. I think Abrianna did a really great job with writing and depicting the loss Enzo goes through, and with Kail's perspective of being the caretaker and significant other and how Enzo's injury affected him too. I liked reading both of their POV's, and this story felt so raw, real, and was quite beautiful .
I really appreciated how Enzo realized, (eventually) that he needed more help, and that pushing people away was only causing him more harm than good. I liked how his recovery was described because we, as readers, got to see how he gradually improved overtime. Which I thought was nice to see. The ending was absolutely fantastic, I love found family and the ending definitely had that in spades. All in all, a great book!!
Enzo is currently available as an e-book and can be read as part of your Kindle Unlimited Subscription
