JACK
Hell, I knew the divorce from Sophie would break my heart, but I had no idea how lost and lonely I would feel once she was gone. Everything ended amicably, almost too peacefully, but now I’m facing a whole new chapter of my life. The only problem is, I don’t know what that chapters holds, or if anyone will ever be there to catch me if I fall again.
My only savior right now is my cousin and best friend Hux. We’ve known each other just about our whole lives, and his invitation up to the woods to help him rebuild the old cabin by Pathfinders Lake could be the one thing I need to figure out what plans the universe has in store for me… and the path I need to find.
HUX
Hell, I knew Jack’s divorce from Sophie would break his heart, but I had no idea it would bring to the surface all the yearning and pain and hopelessness I’ve felt over the years. The fact is, Jack’s the one and only person I ever want to spend the rest of my life with. But how do you tell your best friend—your cousin—how you truly feel? I know I need to help him through the dark days following his divorce, but will I be able to keep myself from betraying all his trust by letting my true feelings show? Will inviting him up to the woods to help me rebuild the old cabin by Pathfinders Lake be the end of our relationship? Or will we finally find our very own path in this world together?
The Pathfinders is a standalone friends/cousins-to-lovers romance that is light on taboo and big on heart-soaring romance. It is a sweet and sexy 50k-word story with emotional subplots, scenes that will make you laugh and cry, and a HEA that will touch your heart.
Lori C's review:
Jack and Hux are two peas in a pod. Closer than brothers as they grew up, but separated by adulthood and secrets. I feel like the majority of the story is told from Huxley’s point of view. This makes sense to me as he is hiding the biggest secret. It’s like he lives a dual life, one on his own and one that he show others. Jack on the other hand appears to live life fully out in the open which is why he is so shocked by his divorce.
Pathfinder Lake has a history that is all about finding your own path. This quote is from Robin’s writing, “It’s a tribute to anyone who has ever known forbidden love. It’s a way of saying sometimes love happens unexpectedly. Sometimes it scares and angers other people who don’t understand. But the people who put a rock on that monument… they understand.” That is what this story is all about. It’s about love at its core, how it doesn’t always follow the rules, but that doesn’t make it any less strong or true. I always feel like I find a deep and meaningful connection is Robin’s stories. His books always leave me feeling like I the adventure is still to come. The characters have met their challenge and are walking into the sunset together.
Molly Otto's review:
Pathfinders is right on that edge of taboo, where if you are open to all forms of love, it's easy to see past the taboo side. These two are a sweet, loving pair when they allow themselves to be happy. Hux is one of those characters who deserves the world and just needs the right person to show him it. Jack, when he lets his defenses down, is that right man for him. However, he tends to go too far at times. If it wasn't for the understanding and forgiving nature of Hux, he may not have gotten this chance to be truly happy. overall, it was a well-done story where it all came together in the end.
Heather's Review:
This book has been out for several years, but is now the kick off for even more Pathfinders Lake stories that include taboo relationships... this book starts us off on the lighter side of taboo with cousins and best friends.. and also gives us the back history of Pathfinders Lake... I really enjoyed getting to know Hux and Jack and watching their relationship transform and grow at the lake.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this multi-author series continues!
The Pathfinders is currently available as an e-book and paperback and can be read as part of your Kindle Unlimited Subscription
