Sky's Guide To Getting His Man & Banishing Ghosts (The Dreamwalkers Book 1) by Sammi Cee

SKY'S GUIDE TO GETTING HIS MAN AND BANISHING GHOSTS, is the beginning of Skylar & Kingstons arc to the Willowhope Manor universe from Sammi Cee. A spunky interior designer witch and his big cinnamon roll dreamwalker crush.

From the blurb:

Skylar Reign’s life has been epic since moving to the small town of Willowhope.

His bestie is a psychic medium.

His mentor, a clairvoyant.

And his new interior design business kicked off with a bang.

All he’s missing is for Kingston Porter, his large, grumpy and completely oblivious friend, to realize that he wants to climb him like a tree.

The problem is, Kingston’s dream walking has gone from exploring the creepier parts of their little beach town to being drawn inside the mansion of a man he’s never met before, and it’s starting to consume his every waking thought.

Skylar’s nothing if not an optimist, and he isn’t ready to give up hope. He’s just not sure fate is still on his side.

There’s something more sinister going on than the two men realize, and it’ll take them working together to save the souls being tormented in their dreams.

But with the help of their meddlesome family, a handful of friendly ghosts, and a psychopomp or two, Kingston and Skylar are on the road to becoming the protectors they never knew they were destined to be.

Molly Otto's review:

Sky has had a thing for Kingston since coming to live by his friends now running Willowhope Manor, yet Kingston seems to not see it or want anything to do with it. Well, the fates don’t see that as a choice and continue to push these men together, until Kingston is able to see Skys true intentions. Fate has intertwined all these men’s lives to start them on this journey to help those who need it. Neither man is truly prepared for what is coming, but with the guidance of those before them, they will in time be able to overcome these odds. This was a great introduction to Sky & King's arc to this universe, showing how expansive this series has the potential of becoming. Prior reading is not necessary but recommended to understand the full scope of the relationships of the inhabitants of Willowhope Manor.

SNik's review:

First in series (The Dreamwalkers). Paranormal. Found family. Slow burn. Soulmates. Quick read. Dual POV.

Interior designer Sky has a large sized crush on mutual friend Kingston who happens to be a dreamwalker, and is intent on getting his notice. But even though all the supernatural goings on in the small town of Willowhope are new to Sky, he soon has to jump in to help Kingston with his growing powers, and Kingston is happy to have Sky by his side.

Some familiarity with the author’s series the Secrets of WIllowhope might help but is not necessary as the reader is immediately introduced to the paranormal setting and established group of found family that are support characters to Kingston and Sky. This story is a sweet and scary beginning for Kingston and Sky, whose mutual attraction is something much deeper and who immediately feel connection and joy with each other as they encounter their first dangerous adventure. The “Scooby gang” they are surrounded by are important as helpful friends and family, but it really is the moments between Kingston and Skylar that make the story resonate. Looking forward to more from this series.

Angel's review:

I really enjoy the fun and whimsy style of Sammi's writing along with her always making found family as some sort of component in her books. I love seeing the characters she creates come together and be there for one another no matter what. Seeing as this is a spinoff series we see characters from the original series make frequent appearances throughout this book, which is so amazing! I love that the Scooby Doo gang is back together.

Sky and King themselves are opposites, Sky is outgoing, confident and sassy, whereas King is shy, reserved, and awkward. Both are different but they compliment each other in a really refreshing way. I can relate wholeheartedly to King, I myself am awkward, and shy, so for his character to be like that as well was nice to see. Sky is the perfect partner for King, he helps get the shy man out of his head and convinced him to take risks, whereas King shows Sky how to plan things out more thoroughly and to live life with a bit more caution.

The plot was engaging with different twists and turns that kept me engaged and very interested. I enjoy how in-depth Sammi got with creating/explaining King being a dream walker and how Sky is his tether. I found that to be quite unique and I'm excited to read more about this dreamy pair! (See what I did there?) This does end off with a HFN, so all of the mysteries won't get solved in this first book, it'll continue throughout the series with an overarching plotline. I absolutely adore this cast of characters and I LOVE the Scooby Doo references too, so cute!!
