A spin-off series from Sweet Alps Mates. Follow the Sinclair children, all grown up, as they find their very own fated mates. Lovable Horny Idiots.
From the blurb:
Ronen Sinclair
As the town librarian, I loved books, quiet spaces, and order. What I didn't love? The incessantly flirty town sheriff, who constantly lost my precious library books and thought he could charm me into forgetting it. Mason was an irritant I could do without. I was this close to banning him from my library, when an accident made us realize we were fated mates. No thank you, hard pass. I wasn't about to let Fate get her way, but she doesn't like to be denied.
Mason Caldwell
As a hoarder of books, I loved spending time in the library. More than that, I loved flirting with the closed off but very sexy, if not a tad fussy, omega who ran the place with an iron fist. Ronen was surly, short-tempered, and invaded my dreams nightly. After discovering we are fated mates, I’m determined to win him over. When an old enemy rears its ugly head, I’ll burn the town down to get back what is mine.
**Trigger and Content Warning** On page kidnapping of one MC and a side character which culminates in the deaths of a bunch of bad people, who you won’t care about and will probably cheer when they meet their maker. In all seriousness, if any of this may be triggering for you, please use your best judgement when deciding to read this book.
Ronen is the first book of the Sweet Alps Legacy series, a spin-off of Sweet Alps Mates series. While this book is a standalone, please note characters from the first series will stop by to say hi and be involved in shenanigans, but it is not necessary to have read that series first. As such, it is an MM omegaverse, fated mates story with Mpreg, featuring a tightly wound, snarky honey badger omega with a penchant for hidden tattoos, a fire breathing alpha who hoards books, a large loving but meddling family, match-making ghosts, some danger and excitement, and an HEA.
DuffetteReads review:
I'm not going to lie, I came into the Sweet Alps Mates Series about midway (yes, I'm going to go back, eventually *avoids eye contact with TBR pile* so I didn't have 100% of the parents' stories, but that didn't stop me from reading this. There's enough backstory covered in Ronen that I didn't feel lost in the world; the author does an amazing job for new readers coming into Sweet Alps for the first time.
Back to the 'horny idiots'. I loved Ronen, he's kind of my spirit animal. Super grumpy, and full of surprises. I really felt his grumpiness because that's how I identify as a person. I loved how logical he is and has to weigh his options, but then when it comes to Mason, logic goes out the door.
Mason was just adorable, I wanted to hug him from the very beginning. These two gave off golden retriever + black cat personality vibes.
This story was a little different than the rest because of the special friends that Ronen has, don't worry, you'll meet them meddling meddlers who like to meddle.
I'm excited for the next book. I will definitely (maybe) have gone back and read all the parents' books in the origin Sweet Alps Mates by the time the next book is released.
Angel's review:
Raiven, this book is incredible and I can see this series being as fantastic as Sweet Alps is. It's tricky sometimes when there are spin off series because they either might not convey the same feelings the previous series did, or the characters aren't their 'usual' selves, or it's a rinse and repeat situation just with different characters. This book, and I suspect this whole series, is nothing like that. There is no faults with this book. Ronen is the first story in a new series that's a spinoff from Raiven's amazing and popular Sweet Alps series. To say that in impressed is an understatement, this book featured ALL of the characters we, (well, I) had come to love from the original series and they were still their loving, boisterous, and meddling selves which I loved! They literally were as authentic as they were in the original series and I really adore how Raiven kept their integrity and stayed true to their characters. Now, you may be wondering if the plot for this book was engaging enough or maybe if the new characters are as great as the original characters. And to that I say a massive yes on both counts. Raiven somehow managed to find the creativity to write not only an engaging and dynamic plotline to accompany the wonderful characters, but she also wrote about a new shifter type while mentioning and hinting at others, which I personally find really impressive. To take something that was already fantastic; in this case the Sweet Alps series, and somehow make the spinoff even better then the original just goes to show the writing prowess Raiven has.
This incredible story dives in to the lives of all the Sinclair children and shows them all grown up and going about living their lives and maneuvering around what Fate has in store for them. Ronen and Mason have a unique relationship, one would say enemies to lovers, which would be somewhat accurate. However, underneath all the snarky comments, and barbs, lies the truth that both men are drawn to each other inexplicably.
I really loved Ronen and Mason's relationship, it was full of comedic dialogue that was really entertaining to read. I also enjoyed how overtime Mason was able to learn more about the side of Ronen he doesn't often show to others, and how overtime Ronen let himself get to know Mason as well.
If Mason was a real person him and I would get along swimmingly! I mean, he loves desserts AND names his animals after them.. Talk about cute! The writing is superb, the characters are fantastic, the plot is done very well, and this is just a fabulous way to start a new series.
Ronen is currently available as an e-book and can be read as part of your Kindle Unlimited Subscription
