The Meaning of You is the first of a new romantic suspense series which will follow the same couple throughout.
From the blurb:
We’d shared a forever love. The kind they write stories about. A once in a lifetime chance at something special. For fourteen years Davis was my world. We were growing old together, fifties and counting. Then it was all ripped away in the blink of an eye.
We’d told each other everything, or so I thought. But secrets have a way of bubbling to the surface and it turned out Davis kept a few of his own. Hidden laptops, clandestine meetings, cryptic emails. The husband I’d believed in was a lie.
Or was he?
I have to find out. And Madigan Church is right there to help me. A complicated man. A man I wasn’t expecting. An attraction I can’t deny. Confusing. Challenging. Madigan makes me feel things I’m not ready for. Want things I don’t deserve. Not now. Maybe not ever again.
But with every step into the twisted mystery, the danger escalates. Neither of us is safe. Not from the truth, and not from what’s growing between us.
Because we aren’t the only ones on the hunt. Somewhere amongst my late husband’s secrets is something worth stealing, maybe even worth killing for.
And time is running out.
Author’s note: This story features the death of a spouse who is not a main character.
‘The Meaning of You’ is the first book in a romantic suspense series following the same couple. There are no cliffhangers.
Rogue's review:
- older MCs
- romantic suspense
This is the first in a new series which will feature the same couple throughout, and I am more than here for that. I need to see the continuing adventures of Nick and Madigan and see where this story goes from here. I loved both guys equally, I am a real sucker for a grump and Nick has good reason to be a grump, but I think he was that anyway regardless of the circumstances of their first meeting. Both men are older, in their mid fifties and I love that, I do like an older MC and the fact they both were, was great.
I loved the story too, it was totally addictive and kept me turning the pages as I needed to see what was going to happen next. This is one of those books that stayed with me even when I had to put it down, I kept thinking about it and was desperate to get back to it to see what was going to happen next. If I could have read it all in one sitting, I certainly would have. The story is great, it's not predictable at all and I'm glad Davis didn't turn out the bad guy in the end too. In a way he's the 3rd MC here as he's ever present - as he should be. I'm happy for Nick and Madigan but also sad for Davis.
I just loved this so much, and literally cannot wait for more from these two as I need to see where things go for them from here, both in their budding relationship and in the mystery of the notebook and all that entailed. I can't recommend this enough.
