Saved by a Barbarian (Not-So-Savage Barbarians Book 2) by Amy Padilla

Saved by a Barbarian is part of Amy Padillas Not-So-Savage barbarian series of overprotective barbarians finding their matches. If you're looking for dark romance this is NOT it. This book is super sweet.

From the blurb:

I should’ve known better than to trust my childhood bully. I was too soft-hearted for my own good. Thanks to another one of his cruel tricks, I end up on the run through a monster-filled forest to avoid the noose. When I’m found by the local barbarian clan, I figure I’m done for. I’m injured, exhausted, and have no hope of fighting back. But the barbarian who rescues me from certain death isn’t what I thought he would be. And maybe the fear I had for them was misplaced. Maybe the only thing I should be afraid of is falling for someone I can’t keep.

Molly Otto's review:

What potentially could be an angsty read turns out to be one of the sweeter reads I have read in some time. Patrick has been taught the barbarians the town sends tributes to are brutal. In reality, they are kind-hearted souls who once they accept you, oh boy, you are in for life. Verus is a sweet hunter who longs for his clan to receive a second male tribute when fates decided to send a hurt Patrick fleeing into his hunting grounds. What starts off with some awkwardly sweet moments turns to heated private moments and a growing connection to a new community Patrick was meant to be a part of. With great cast of side characters you are in for a fun adventure.

Thera's review:

This is the first book by this author that I've read. It was not at all what I was expecting. It was so good though. It was very sweet, funny in places, spicy and more sweeteness. I couldn't put it down. Verus and Patrick were just so good together. Sweet and spicy. Also, need to shoutout Yamileth. One of my favorite side characters ever.

SNik's review:

Second in series (Not-So-Savage Barbarians), can be read as a standalone but might be better if read in order. Hurt/comfort. Found family. Quick read. Dual POV.

Fleeing from his town, barely surviving, Patrick is rescued by a barbarian from a nearby clan. Verus is fiercely protective of the injured man he finds, and he wants to believe he may have found his forever bondmate.

Take one hurt and affection starved baker and mix in a cinnamon roll hunter and you have a formula for a sweet unexpected relationship that blossoms with tenderness and kindness. Both these characters were likable and vulnerable with each other in that Patrick allows himself to slowly trust Verus and Verus happily tries to care and comfort Patrick hoping they can build a romantic relationship. I enjoyed every moment Patrick and Verus spent together and the loyal supportive secondary characters of the found family (as well as those that become friends after some angst).
