From the Power Forward blurb:

Jackson

When I attended my teammate’s wedding, I wasn’t expecting to come face to face with the man who broke my heart fourteen years ago.
He was my teammate. My first love.
But when I got traded, he threw what we had away.
Now he’s back in my life and he wants to give things another go.
If I agree to try again, and it all goes wrong, it’s not just my heart that’s at risk of breaking. It’ll be my kids' hearts too.

Hayden

I don’t have many regrets in life. Only one.
Hurting Jackson Wilde.
Since my career ending injury, my life has been on a downward spiral. I’ve projected to the world that everything’s fine, but deep down, I’m a broken man.
For the last six years I’ve been working on getting back pieces of the man I used to be. Not just to save me from myself, but for this moment.
A chance to win Jackson back.
I know it’s not going to be easy, but I’m going to give it my all.

SNik's review:

Fourth in series (Chicago Thunder), can be read as a standalone but might be more fun if read in order. Second chance. Mature characters. Mental health representation. Slow burn. Single dad. Dual POV.

Former hockey player Hayden made a huge mistake when he pushed the love of his life away, something he regrets even fourteen years later, but now he wants a second chance. Jackson is barely holding on as he juggles being a single dad and his hockey career, and he’s not sure he has the strength to risk his heart again.

This story certainly demonstrates that you don’t forget your first love, and even though life throws all kinds of things at you, the good and the bad, with enough love you can build something possibly even more fantastic. Both Hayden and Jackson are likable characters that are trying so hard to be better in their personal lives as well as having the ability to unequivocally love the person that has returned to their life. A thoroughly sweet and entertaining read, with really supportive secondary characters and two main characters that are vulnerable and honest with each other enough to make everything work.
