Crash-Landed in Love (He's Out of This World, Book 1) by Piper Scott & Renee Fox; Narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo
Michael Ferraiuolo did a wonderful job bringing to audio this hilarious eggpreg alien romance by authors Piper Scott and Renee Fox!
From the blurb:
He comes in peace… amongst other things.
When college kid Jude Adler wishes for a new life on a shooting star, he never imagined it would come in the form of a shapeshifting alien who nearly crash-lands his spaceship on top of him, let alone one who chooses to disguise himself as a man inspired by Jude’s wildest fantasies.
Al’s ship is damaged and unable to make the flight home, and when he earnestly asks Jude for a safe place to stay until help arrives, how can Jude say no?
Keeping his hands to himself until then shouldn’t be difficult… but Jude is only human, and there’s only so long anyone can resist a roommate disguised as the hottest guy imaginable.
A roommate whose insatiable curiosity is piqued by Jude’s human body…And who shares Jude's only bed.
Crash-Landed in Love is a hilarious paranormal romance set on modern-day Earth with an HEA and no cliffhangers. It contains a clueless alien who is quite good at pretending to be a human, a love that’s written in the stars, shapeshifting body parts, and enough steam you’ll start to worry that your spaceship is on fire.
Please note that while this series has a contemporary setting… life finds a way.
Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's review:
This was so cute, with a little bit of angst there in the middle. Not too much, but enough to get me in the feels. I've read both the ebook, and now the audio, and I enjoyed Michael Ferraiuolo's take on bringing Jude and Al to life. It was kind of fun to hear his take on some Darvrokian words too.
The miscommunication between human Jude and alien Al caused the majority of the minor angst in this story. I don't know if I wouldn't have reacted a bit crazy if I found out I was pregnant with an alien's offspring and I'm not even male! I did get a little miffed with him though for a bit because after his initial reaction, he should have realized that based on what he knew of Al, this wouldn't have been something he would have done against Jude's will. In fact, all Al has ever done was whatever he could to make Jude happy and I was happy when Jude finally realized that.
Al was so precious and I wanted to give him the biggest hug. I adored his ranting about human technology and their earthly calendar. He may have been a sweetheart, but he wasn't afraid to speak his mind. I also thought it was cute how he would speak with the cat, even though no one believed he was really doing so.
The ebook for this came back out in December 2023 and I haven't heard any updates on book 2, even though we were teased at the end about a certain family member of Al's on their way to Earth. I'm wondering if he is going to end up with Corbin or Ezra. Maybe even Jude's closeted brother. Either way, I do hope that we will get more from this series soon because I really did love it!
Lesetiger's review:
I'm not really a science fiction fan and I have to admit that Michael Ferraiuolo was the reason why I listened to this audiobook.
What can I say? The story surprised me and in a positive way. I haven't listened to such a funny audiobook for a long time.
While art student Jude is out in the desert looking into the distance, he is almost hit by a spaceship flying by. Al has crashed and is stranded on earth. I found Al and his view of people and their actions just delightful, especially his problems with counting time. I liked Al from the beginning because he is very refreshing and also very likeable. His references to the English language are wonderful! Oh well, he's stranded on Earth and his family is a galaxy away.
I thought Jude was initially quite relaxed about the situation of suddenly seeing an alien. Jude and Al bonded quickly - no wonder, as Al had a very good template.
However, when Jude found out something that pushed him to his limits, Jude was very hurtful towards Al. As a listener, I didn't find that quite so nice, but from Jude's point of view, the reaction was understandable.
There were also interesting secondary characters, not all of whom I found likeable, unfortunately.
Michael Ferraiuolo read the audiobook and knocked it out of the park. Wow, he did a fantastic job and brought the story to life. He chose the right voices for the different characters and narrated in an incredibly captivating way!
