Handy (Four Bears Construction Book 8) by K.M. Neuhold

We are back with the men of Four Bears Construction! Handy returns us to the world in this light hearted fun story where a grumpy construction worker meets a sunshiney forest ranger and neither can let go.

From the blurb:

My new neighbor may be grumpy but he's also hot, and very good with his hands…

I definitely overestimated my own handyman skills when I bought this fixer-upper. I have to say, the view from my new place is worth it though. Especially around seven o'clock every morning when my big, furry bear of a neighbor drinks his coffee shirtless on his back porch.

He's dedicated to the bear thing too. Growly, grumpy, and as it turns out, he really likes belly rubs.

Am I a sucker for a touch starved grump? Yes. Am I sorry about it? Absolutely not.

Getting Griff into my house and into my bed is the easy part. Convincing him I'm actually interested in him is so much harder.

I didn't mean to turn myself into his secret admirer, but if sending him anonymous presents and notes is the only way to wear down his gruff exterior, then that's what I'm going to do.

Sooner or later he’ll realize he’s more than just my grumpy handyman, right?

Handy is a super low angst, high heat, romantic comedy featuring a grumpy “Bear” (not the shifter kind ;) ), and his sunshiney neighbor who becomes his secret admirer. It can be read as a stand alone but the most enjoyment will be from reading it as part of the full Four Bears Construction Series.

Molly Otto's review:

The boys who started this fun universe are back with a new couple! When Ledger moves next to a grumpy bear, he can't help but fall hard and fast. Griff, now working for Four Bears, learns to deal with the antics of those dang Fools and ends up with a neighbor who fits right in with the madness. Ledger needs help fixing his falling apart home, and lucky for him, Griff is willing to barter for his services. These two have that great combination of chemistry and banter where when they open up to one another, it's pure KM magic that we all come to love from the author. Its such a pleasure to be back to the originals and see they are as loveable as ever. And yes, Griff, we are all on your side. Relating to Stone is never exactly safe, but so worth the ride. At a time when we needed good humor and loveable characters, this was a perfect addition to a loved series from KM Neuhold.

SNik's review:

Eighth in series (Four Bear Construction), can be read as a standalone but might be more fun if read in order. Grumpy/sunshine. Mature characters. Dual POV.

Sure Ledger is secretly crushing on his grumpy neighbor, and when he gets a chance to offer a casual hookup in return for some help with fixing his crumbling house he feels like he hit the sexy bear jackpot. Griff is just going through the motions, but when his sunshiney neighbor showers him with attention Griff doubts he could get lucky enough to find someone willing to take a chance on a grump like him again.

Ledger is such a wonderful character, just so hopeful, positive, affectionate and willing to put his heart on the line for a man that he knows has trouble expressing his emotions and communicating feelings. And the fact that Griff doesn’t need to change for Ledger is the icing on the cake for someone that has a lot of love to give for that special someone. Sometimes reading a steamy but syrupy sweet book is just the perfect thing and this story fits the bill for a romance that brings all the swoon and none of the angst.

Rogue's review:

- series
- grumpy/sunshine
- secret admirer
- romantic comedy

This is part of the Four Bears Construction series, it can be enjoyed standalone but is definitely best enjoyed as part of the series, as there are a few cameos (and easter eggs too 😉). This is Ledger and Griff's story, and I absolutely loved it. It's so funny and made me laugh out loud more than once while reading it, and I was utterly charmed by Ledger and his secret admirer shenanigans (Dat ASS THOUGH).

Grumpy/sunshine is my absolute favourite trope, I will never not love that and this is low angst with more than a little heat too. There are some poignant moments too around Griff and his coming to terms with his relationship with Ledger. This is so much fun, I couldn't put it down and I was so completely happy to be back in the Four Bears world. I'm hoping for a story for Ledger's friend Jericho, maybe with a tattoo artist?

Cannot recommend this highly enough.

Heather's Review:

While we've never really left the Four Bears Construction universe with the spin off series, it was lovely to be back to the OG.  With cameos and easter eggs sprinkled throughout the story, those who have read the original series or even the spin offs will definitely recognize both characters and catch phrases.  As for the story itself, it focuses on neighbours Ledger and 4 Bear Griff...

I truly enjoyed Ledger's hijinks and Griff's grumpy sweetness.  I love how oblivious Griff could be and how much fun this book was to read!  This is such a sweet, steamy low angst read and the perfect way to escape all of the dumpster fires happening in the world.
