The Incubus's Assistant (Charmed Away Temp Agency Book 1) by Amy Padilla

The Incubus's Assistant is the kickoff to the Charmed Away Temp Agency series. We start with a an incubus and his human assistant with high heat, fun characters and a new paranormal setting that promises some interesting interactions.

From the blurb:

When Avery showed up for his temp job on Monday morning, he’d had certain expectations in mind. He was not expecting to end up bent over his new boss’s desk. It was an innocent mistake, and he’s determined to move on, but the experience left him breathless and more than a little curious. So when his new boss is left without a feeder, he volunteers to help. After all, that’s what any good assistant would do. Right?

Ozen made foolish decisions when he was hungry. He is grateful that his new assistant is so forgiving. But when he finds himself starving after his new feeder throws a temper tantrum and refuses to show up, he has no choice but to ask his assistant for help. After all, he had yet to meet an assistant who was so professional. Surely they could get through a feeder contract without any issues. Right?

Tags: happy accidents, virgin MMC, hungry incubus, Ozen is grumpy when he’s hungry, Avery is happy to be a snack, contracts should be taken seriously, petulant feeders will get their comeuppance, who knew you could order your perfect mate?, Avery is inexperienced, Ozen is a good teacher, mixing business with pleasure isn’t such a bad idea, CEOs make busy bosses, it’s just a crush, not, maybe contracts are meant to be broken, guaranteed HEA

Molly Otto's review:

The kickoff to Amy Padillas new Charmed Away Temp Agency series. Ozen is an overworked incubus who tends to let his hunger take control vs. setting the right boundaries with his feeders. Avery, the new temp from Charmed Away Temp Agency, is mistaken for his new feeder, which leads to the beginning of this unique love story. They have instant work chemistry and pair well togehter to fill his needs. When things happen, Avery shows how understanding and compassionate he is for all species, even though at times. Let's be honest I question if Ozen deserves loyalty. It takes Ozen having a pretty brutal wake-up call to realize how much his choices affect both him and Avery. What makes Avery so great is that he just wants to be his own person and will do what's needed to help those around him. With a great cast of friends/ co-workers, I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next from this world.

SNik's review:

First in series (Charmed Away Temp Agency). Paranormal. Boss/employee. Fated mates. Dual POV.

Avery is a pro at being a temp, he enjoys helping people and the variety, plus it gives him time to write, but pleasing the boss he just met goes further than he expected and surprisingly he doesn’t mind. Ozen was starving when he had a taste of Avery, but now he can’t seem to stop his craving for the accommodating human that may just be the best assistant he’s ever had even without feeding his incubus needs.

This start of a new series takes off with a bang and continues the high heat throughout while introducing some likable main characters and a ton of supportive secondary characters that hopefully will get their own HEA’s eventually. Avery and Ozen actually maintain a professional relationship for a good amount of the story as they learn about each other, and although Ozen stumbles a few times in his treatment of Avery he is definitely committed to being there for him. I smiled a lot while reading this book, it was a fun read that I really enjoyed and I look forward to more from this series. 4.5 rounded up
