Clair de la Lune (Book Two: Ink & Flowers) by Alexa Piper

The second installment in the new AU series by Alexa Piper is just as cute as the first! And we even get to finally visit the Moonlight Cafe!

From the Clair de la Lune blurb:

Soyer had a solid plan to get over his breakup, but he didn’t account for the sexy tattoo artist next door.

Soyer is a stubborn man, and he will go after what he wants. Right now, that’s building a quiet existence and running his new flower shop in peace. He also wants the town’s cute tattoo artist.

Amory is beloved in Clair de la Lune, so pursuing the man quietly isn’t in the cards for Soyer. Yet, he will persevere.

Ink & Flowers follows the events of Ink & Snow, which should be read first.

OMG Alexa!! That ending! I need the 3rd one now!!!

OK now that I've gotten that out of the way, I can start my review. This one starts off right where book 1 left us. It was so cute seeing Soyer caring for Amory. And I adored that Amory is getting comfortable enough around Soyer for his cheeky side to come out. He comes off as so innocent. I just love it when that part of his personality shines through.

Soyer is still sticking to his guns when it comes to Cherry, although I think we all know that she is his cat. Even him. He's just being the stubborn man he is. There were more nods to their original romance story in this one. I really liked how the phoenix symbol and black shuck were presented and tied into this storyline.

Things are progressing slowly, but wonderfully with Soyer and Amory. Being in Soyer's head for this series so far has been the best! I like when he argues with himself and some of his thought commentary was hilarious, especially when interacting with Elias.

This one ends on a cliffhanger as I am sure you can probably guess from my ranting at the start. It's not a particularly shocking or life-threatening cliffhanger just so you're aware. It's more that the author ended it right when things were going to get tricky, for lack of a better term. I was wondering when/or if this situation was going to occur once I began the series, but it looks like I am going to have to wait until Clair de la Lune: Book Three: Ink & Sleigh Rides comes out to see how it plays out!
