An intelligent but innocent little finds his perfect holiday match. Just a sweet, fun read where Santa brings just the right gift of love into Jakob and Reed's lives.
From the Wrecked for the Holidays blurb:
There's no reasoning with holiday magic.
Jakob
Being a super genius should make life a sleigh ride, not a snowstorm. Jakob’s entire life has been defined by his oversized brain. When he finally breaks out of the ivory tower he’s been kept in, Jakob has plans to do all the things he’s been told are beneath his intellect. Step one? Deck the halls with his very first Christmas tree. He doesn’t expect to meet his future Daddy on the side of the road, but there’s no arguing with the magic of the holidays.
Reed
Being an ER doctor is an all-consuming profession, especially during the holiday rush. Finding a little takes time, and that’s something Reed has in short supply. He’s used to patching broken bones, not hearts, and the idea of Christmas magic seemed like a fairy tale. But when Jakob crashes into him—quite literally—and somehow jingles his way into Reed's home and heart, it feels like maybe Jakob is right about being wrecked for the holidays.
This Daddy/little story includes a dash of glitter, visits with Santa, wrapping paper shenanigans, a boy who was never allowed to be one, and a Daddy who’s been wishing for a boy of his very own.
Reed and Jakob are an established couple in the Just a Little series and Almstead Island: Newcomers Club. This is their meet-cute.
SNik's review:
Standalone novella (but is interconnected with the author’s other ‘Just a Little’ books). Daddy/little. Age gap. Dual POV.
A car accident might just bring the Papa of Jakob’s dreams into his life, and Jakob doesn’t plan on letting go. It’s possible that ER doctor Reed just might have found his perfect boy in the innocent and super intelligent Jakob, and when he offers to be roommates he could have never hoped the holidays would bring him his perfect gift.
I really loved how Jakob and Reed were such a perfect fit, with Jakob learning Reed was a safe Papa for him to explore his little side and Reed being the kindest and most caring Daddy. Every interaction between them was super sweet and the holiday backdrop made it fun and really joyful. There were stumbles along the way and eventually some steamy scenes, and overall this was such an easy romantic read.
GreenwingReads review:
This is my second book by Kerry Kilpatrick and I enjoyed it as much as the first. I had no idea going into it that this is the story of a couple who briefly appears in the other book I read, Will. This is the story of Reed and Jakob. Reed is Beckett's cousin (one of the MCs in Will). You don't have to have read anything prior to this, as it is a standalone. Reed and Jakob's story actually happens before Will and Beckett's. Anyone who has read Will, you know who Reed and Jakob are and you'll love their story.
Reed is a successful doctor and roughly middle aged (I don't recall if it was ever said, but I think he is mid-30s). Jakob is much younger and a child genius, so at twenty-two, he's already fully established in his career and has a phD. Due to his immense intellect, he has been pressured to only ever concentrate on his studies and career. He's never been allowed to be a kid or even have a social life. When he finally decides to assert his independence from his family, he is a bit overwhelmed. During a small mishap, he meets Reed and the two immediately click and quickly begin a relationship.
I loved how Reed supported Jakob in discovering his likes and dislikes. He never spoke down to him or teased him for his inexperience, either as a Little or as an independent adult. Reed was totally selfless and genuinely kind, he wanted only the best for Jakob. I also loved how mischevious Jakob could be, but he was also always kind and sweet. The two were very well matched.
My only complaint is that the story felt unfinished. There was never any real closure to Jakob's relationship with his parents. I also kept waiting for some kind of interaction between Jakob and his brothers as their relationship also felt unresolved. Those aspects of the story were left hanging. Everything else was well-written and enjoyable.

Heather's Review:
This was an adorable Daddy/little story with a boy who crashes into his daddy's car and his heart! I love how sweet but forthright Jacob is about what he wants and what he needs, even though he's never explored his little side, or dating at all... and I love that Reed is patient and picks up on Jacob's cues to make the holiday magical.
I love that Jacob had a safe space to figure things out and that Reed was also willing to go to bat for Jacob with his parents. I also appreciated that they both had surmountable missteps that added depth and interest to the story.
