From the blurb:

Toby

Being an event planner, working at my parents’ exclusive country hotel wasn’t at the top of my career list. Quite frankly, it wasn’t even on it, but when my latest venture, starting my own dance studio went pear shaped, it was suggested I give up my dream and join the family business.

It was bearable. The commute was short, but pandering to the rich and famous, finding only the best for their wedding or wake, I was starting to get itchy feet. In both senses of the word.

But things are going awry, I’m finding things in the weirdest of places and just sometimes, I feel like I’m not really alone.

Is it wishful thinking or is there something else going on here? Something, I’m not sure I want to know the answer to.

Matthias

He’s just my type, the guy with the smart suits, and the dancing feet. Well he would be if I wasn’t dead!

I’ve watched him for a while now though, trying to get his attention. Sometimes I think it’s working, but haunting, that’s hard work right there, and trying to get him to notice me. It's proving a little difficult considering he can’t see me.

I have to find a way to fix that, because I want him to see me, I want to join him as he waltzes across that majestic ballroom.

Most of all, I want to be with him. Easier said than done, but somehow I have to find a way.

Excerpt:

"Is that you? Are you my ghostly friend? Come to save me again?" Toby stepped in my direction, straightening his suit. "I'd like to thank you. That's twice now you've saved me from him. Where are you? What's your name?" He turned in a circle, unable to pinpoint my exact position and I focused more than I'd ever done. I wanted him to see me, needed him to see me, needed to make that connection.
I concentrated hard, not entirely sure what I was doing, but if I imagined myself appearing to him, maybe that would work. He'd almost seen me earlier in his office, but I couldn't maintain it then, my energy was already weak. Here went nothing. I closed my eyes, willing myself to appear, trying to bring forth my image. It'd been so long since I'd actually seen myself, it was hard to do. "I’m Matthias."
Finally, he turned to me, his face full of wonder. "I see you. You're, you're an airman." His eyes widened as he spoke.
"I was, a long time ago, but yes." He stepped closer to me, reaching out. I wasn't sure what would happen. Could he touch me? Would he touch me?
Indecision crossed his face, and he withdrew his hand as if burned. "I won't hurt you," I said.
"No, I don't think you would." His voice was almost a whisper, and I strained to hear him. He lifted his hand again, and this time, he touched the sleeve of my jacket.
"I can feel you. You seem real enough. How are you doing this? Why have I never seen you before?" So many questions, I didn't know where to start. The amount of energy I was expending just to appear to him was already exhausting me. "I don't have long." I managed to say. "I can't explain a lot of it, things are very jumbled in here." I tapped my head. "I've been here a while. I know that much."
