M.A. Wardell and A.J. Truman came together in Marshmallow Mountain to tell a beautiful story of heart and heat. The perfect combination of these two authors' effortless writing gives you the perfect HEA. First in a series, Marshmallow Mountain is a sweet story of a second chance, snowed in over a weekend with two big boys who're meant to be together.
From the blurb:
What’s worse than being snowed in with your ex? Literally nothing.
Initially, the only thing Marshall and Marshall had in common was a name. Marshall (aka Data) lived his life around spreadsheets, while Marshall (aka Marsh) was an F5 tornado of chaos. Yet for eight years, they were madly in love. Until Marsh abruptly ended things with a half-baked excuse.
Six months later, Data gets a text from Marsh out of the blue: they need to clean out their cabin in Maine and sell it ASAP. He can make it through one more weekend with the man who broke his heart.
Marsh loved adding squiggles to the straight lines of his boyfriend. If only he could’ve lived up to the potential Data saw in him. If only he didn’t feel like he was one big miscalculation on Data’s ledger. Saying goodbye to Marshmallow Mountain will be the final tie to sever, even though he still pines for his number-crunching teddy bear.
But when a massive snowstorm traps them in their small cabin for days, they’re forced to confront hard truths about their breakup…as well as resist the sweltering heat raging between them.
These boys might be headed for a second act, but only if they can make it off Marshmallow Mountain.
Molly Otto's review:
I love it when two authors come together and you can't actually tell who is writing what. Now, for me, that's a match made in heaven. With AJ and MA, you just can't tell you to get a feel that both wrote aspects of each of these loveable men.
Marshall (Marsh) and Marshall (Data) broke up six months ago and didn't get the true closure they needed. When it's time to close their holiday home, they soon realize neither is ready to move forward, and just maybe they have a chance to be together once again. These two are hilarious together and just get each other. The chemistry is perfection. You can easily see why they should be together, and once they do, they finally lay it all out magic. What a perfect way to start a combined universe with real men just wanting to find their place and be happy.
Rogue's review:
- second chance
- forced proximity
- snowed in
I'm not going to lie, I had high hopes for this one, even though I haven't read M.A. Wardell before I'd heard great things and I'm very familiar with A.J. Truman's stories. I was not disappointed. I was hooked from the instant I met Marshall and Other Marshall. I haven't read a story before where the two MCs have the same name and I loved it, it really added to the story and wasn't confusing at all. Honestly, this is such a sweet story, as sweet as Marshmallow itself, really. Marshall and Other Marshall were a delight, and I loved reading them taking their second chance, getting past all the hurt and confusion of the initial breakup and finding each other again.
I love that they're both older, both bigger guys too and this was also pretty hot, they can't keep their hands off each other, but also they're the missing piece of each other and the joy of the story is them rediscovering that over a weekend together snowed in. Honestly, if you ever need a pick-me-up feelgood story, pick this up because it's wonderful. I adored it, and can't wait for more.
SNik's review:
First in series (Big Boys Small Spaces). Mature characters. Second chance. Forced proximity. Dual POV.
Not really sure why his boyfriend of 8 years suddenly broke it off and ghosted him, Data’s heart breaks even further when Marsh calls and asks him to come to their cabin and help get it ready for sale. Marsh never wanted to give up Data, but it was for the best, but being stuck together only brings back all the memories and love that they shared and Marsh is still trying to forget.
I really enjoyed that there is never a doubt that Data and Marsh love each other, and their chemistry and lust for each other hasn’t diminished during their years together and their few months apart. I struggled slightly with Marsh’s intimate behavior even though he and Data are not together which I didn’t think was fair and Data’s struggle with anger and past feelings seemed more realistic given the situation. There is a true sense of them being loving partners which was the best part and of course the inevitability of their second chance was so fun to read.
Angel's review:
When Marsh's boyfriend of 8 years dumps him out of the blue, he's left heartbroken and confused. Six months after their break up Marsh's ex calls him and asks for help packing up their cabin so they can sell... Neither predicted that they would get snowed in together, or that maybe things aren't as final as they seem.
Having two MC'S with the same name was a bit confusing at first, but the nicknames these two men had for each other helped make it easier to read. What also helped ease the confusion is how different these two are, they each have such distinct personalities that contrast from one another which helped with knowing who's POV you were reading.
I thought this story was good, I found it to be a good redemption romance full of Hurt/ Comfort goodness, and the snowed in aspect was a really nice addition. Marsh and Marshall have a lot of history together after being together for 8 years, and throughout this story they each learn new things about one another that they didn't know previously. There's always something new to learn and I loved how that was showcased here. At first I wasn't a huge fan of the back and forth between these two men, it felt a bit like whiplash... One moment they are getting along, the next moment they aren't, then they are sleeping together.... It just felt a bit jumbled.. However, once the story progressed further and the two characters started talking more, things became clearer and started making more sense.
I found it cute how much these two loved mallowbars and how they made a game out of packing in order to achieve more cookies. That scene was just adorable!
Overall a great cosy romance story that was written well, with great works building, and lovely side characters. I'm looking forward to Bryce's story, I'm excited to see what his story is going to consist of.
Heather's Review:
I love a good collab and this one was excellent! The writing was seamless and the characters were fun and well written. You get to see how they come back together and get back in sync. I love that they represented big beautiful bodies and that their chemistry was off the charts - toss in a little forced proximity, and some weather and it made for a quick and lovely read that had a beautiful HEA and left me wanting to know who's next in the Big Boys Small Spaces series) and what hijinks they'll get up to!
