Midnight on the Midway (Carnival of Mysteries) by Morgan Brice

Another entry to the Carnival of Mysteries series where a psychic secret agent and his new veterinarian boyfriend get some help from the supernatural crew of the carnival. They may be soulmates but they have to survive some paranormal baddies to get their HEA.

From the Midnight on the Midway blurb:

Supernatural secret agents, vampires, and veterinarians!

Drake Carlson is an agent for the Federal Bureau of Supernatural Investigation. He’s psychic and gets visions of alternate realities. Drake is tracking magical Mafiosi involved in paranormal crime. On a rare night out, he goes to an arcade and ends up in a Skee-Ball competition with Garrett Thompson, a cute veterinarian, and they really hit it off. More arcade dates and a visit to the Carnival of Mysteries lead to hot nights and a growing connection, and Drake begins to think he and Garrett could forge a forever relationship.

Then a mobster with a sick dog kidnaps Garrett, and a vampire henchman puts Garrett under his thrall. Drake is going to need all the help he can get—from the carnival, his own psychic mojo, and some paranormally skilled friends to catch the mobster, rescue Garrett—and, of course, save the dog—on the way to his happily-ever-after.

Midnight on the Midway is a fast-paced MM paranormal romance filled with supernatural suspense, found family, a brave veterinarian, vengeful vampires, sarcastic ghosts, midway magic, a fearless fed, hurt/comfort angst, love-conquers-all tension, and a very happy ending!

Part of the multi-author, shared-world Carnival of Mysteries series. Can be read as a stand-alone.

SNik's review:

Part of a multi-author series (Carnival of Mysteries), but can be read as a standalone. Paranormal. Dual POV.

Drake is an agent for the supernatural arm of the FBI, in a small town in West Virginia trying to investigate some harmful drugs being produced by a paranormal mafia made up of shifters, vampires and witches. A chance meeting with a cure local veterinarian and Drake is smitten, and Garrett is on the same page as the men progress through a few cute dates that make them both hope for forever.

The arcade meet-cute and fun dates they go on show that Drake and Garrett are both flirty but serious about trying for something together, both characters are likable and committed to their jobs. Understandably, I enjoyed the times when they are on page together the most, but I also appreciated Garrett’s easy acceptance of the paranormal world that was hidden. A sweet addition to this series with a little action and some familiar faces from the carnival that helped keep Drake and Garrett safe and predicted that they belonged together.
