Jared and Isaac are unlikely friends. Jared is serious and Isaac is a prankster. Their daily interactions are entertaining.
From The Broker blurb:
The secrets of the past never remain buried. Somehow, they always find a way of leaking into the present, forcing people to face their demons and confront the haunting truths they have tried so desperately to keep hidden.
Isaac
25, Exotic Dancer... likes to party and have a good time.
What can I say? I like to have fun. Do I party hard? Yes. Do I make all the guys around me hot under the collar? Also, yes. But what's my favorite thing to do? Annoy the heck out of a certain uptight, ex-army boy whose muscles are way too big for his body. Seriously. We get it. You work out, dude... but also, I want you. Right here. Right now. Nope! Not going to admit that! Never. Ever. So, forget what you just heard and move along, please.
Jared
28, Exotic Dancer, ex-army... spends most of his time making sure that a certain blue-haired pain stays out of trouble.
Why do I do this? He annoys me to no end. Constantly playing pranks and always getting on my nerves. Yet, for some reason, I always find myself looking out for him. Making sure that he's safe and stays out of trouble. So, when the boss asks Isaac to revisit his painful past, of course, I'm there to protect him. He's going to need all the moral support he can get. Also, if anyone touches him, they're going to be introduced to a whole new level of pain. Just don't tell Isaac. I still have a reputation to keep.
The Broker is an MM Dark Romance filled with bad men doing bad things.
Content Warning: Kidnapping, violence, off-screen assault, alcohol abuse, foul language, and loads of steamy scenes.
Reed Kaye's review:
This is the second in the series and I’m really enjoying these stories.
This centers around Jared and Isaac. Both of these guys have had a rough time and deal with issues daily.
Jared’s ex-army and was happy in the service until things change and he is unable to deal. It leaves him unable to survive daily life with PTSD and is on the verge of something awful when he is given an opportunity that changes his life. Living at La Maison de M is a private gentlemen’s club gives him a chance to be part of something again.
Isaac also is part of the group at La Maison de M. He is the prankster among the group and most of his pranks seem to focus on Jared. There are plenty of things he does to irritate him. But maybe it is for attention.
When these two get together it is somewhat like oil and water. Jared being so caring and Isaac being unable to acknowledge his feelings.
This is a romance with a little back history causing problems. I enjoyed these two facing the possibility that they can be more. I liked the way the story unfolded, kept me page turning. The only unanswered question I’m left with is what is Isaac’s brother's final outcome? Now I can’t wait until the next book and am more than a little anxious for Matteo’s story to be written.
