Forever Always by Jacey Davis

Love drives survival and sacrifice for Beckett and Riley in Forever Always. No one and nothing will come close to the type of relationship they have, and when they make the jump to romantic feelings all bets are off on anything being able to break them apart.

From the blurb:

For as long as I can remember, it’s been Riley and me against the world.

I knew Riley was mine to take care of and protect from the minute my dad introduced me to him and his mom as my new family.

For a while everything was perfect. And then that all changed.

Protecting Riley became more important than ever. I was the only thing between him and the wrath of Dad. I was the only person keeping a roof over his head and food in his belly.

I was the most important person in the world to him. And he was mine.

Nothing would ever change that.

We’re grown now, but still, I’d do anything for Riley. I’d gladly get my hands dirty to keep his clean. There wasn’t a line I wouldn’t cross for him. Even lines so forbidden I had no idea how he’d react if he ever found out. But it didn’t matter because it was Riley and me against everyone.

Forever.

Always.

SNik's review:

Standalone. Stepbrothers. Hurt/comfort. Found family. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.

Beckett will do anything to protect Riley, and over the years his dedication to his younger stepbrother has caused some dark and traumatic things to happen, but Beckett needs to keep Riley safe. Riley knows Beckett has sacrificed for him, and he would do the same, but being with Beckett means everything, as long as they are together nothing else matters.

Beckett and Riley’s relationship is well-written with the depth of their feelings and their honest communication making them unbreakable as they support and love one another. This story keeps the reader continuously on edge, these two men cannot catch a break, and their commitment to each other and their found family is enviable. The supportive secondary characters are terrific, the handling of Beckett and Riley’s ups and downs relatable and swoony. A thoroughly engaging book, with likable characters that you can root for, feel sad and happy for, and be ecstatic for them getting their HEA.
