From the blurb:

Grayson "Becks" Beckett

Settling down and starting a family with a mate was never something I longed for. Instead, I traveled the world working my government job, living for the next adventure. When that time came to an end, I was left adrift. Hooking up with a beautiful omega I met on a kink app was just what I needed to get out of the funk I was in. No names, no expectations. Just some no strings fun and then we’d both go our separate ways.

I never expected my hook-up to turn out to be my fated mate. Instead of accepting fate, I ignored it and hightailed it out of there. I had no intention of being tied down. Until the day I came face to face with my very pregnant fated mate, who was not at all happy to see me.

Wyatt Cooper

Sweet Alps was going to be my new beginning. No more stuffy academia, no more boring projects. Finally, I would be able to do what I enjoyed most, working with children. Buying the Little Cubs Daycare would be the beginning of my new life and freedom.

Imagine my surprise when I got pulled over and the sheriff turned out to be my sexy, nameless app hookup from months before. He wasn’t supposed to be here in my new town. He definitely wasn’t supposed to be delivering my baby on the side of the road, spouting nonsense about us being fated mates.

My anger at seeing him again only cemented my belief that mates were a myth. I might have been naïve enough to not realize what that electric shock between us had meant, but he sure as hell had. Without a word, he left me with nothing but the memories of our night together and a surprise baby as a bonus.

His Innocent Omega is book 6 of the Sweet Alps Mates series but can be read as a standalone. Characters from other books make appearances, so some readers find it more enjoyable to have read the previous books. It features rejected mates, an alpha whose whole world is turned upside down and is a bit clueless, and an omega who isn’t buying what he’s selling. Knotting, found family, new friendships, an adorable baby, and some light D/s when their clothes come off, and they stop sniping at one another long enough to realize they might be exactly what the other needs.

TW: This book touches on the following topics: stresses that come with giving birth and becoming new parents, self-doubt, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy. As well as being rejected (briefly) by a mate. If any of these things may trigger you, this book might not be for you.

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's review:

"...ᴛʜɪꜱ ᴀʟᴘʜᴀ ʜᴀᴅ ʀᴇᴊᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ ᴍᴇ. ʜᴀᴅ ᴡᴀʟᴋᴇᴅ ᴀᴡᴀʏ, ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ ᴇᴠᴇɴ ᴀ ɢᴏᴏᴅʙʏᴇ ᴏʀ ʜɪꜱ ꜰᴜᴄᴋɪɴɢ ɴᴀᴍᴇ, ᴋɴᴏᴡɪɴɢ ᴡᴇ ᴡᴇʀᴇ ꜰᴀᴛᴇᴅ ᴍᴀᴛᴇꜱ. ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ ꜱᴀʏɪɴɢ ᴏɴᴇ ᴡᴏʀᴅ. ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ ᴇᴠᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟɪɴɢ ᴍᴇ."

Leaving behind his sleeping fated mate without so much as a fuck you was not Becks' finest moment. And I wish I could say that was the worst of Becks' transgressions with Wyatt but alas, I'd be lying. I can sympathize with Becks though. If I had to be apart from my newborn daughter I think I'd go a little batty myself.

These two had a rough start. Wyatt was NOT an easy omega to woo. Yes he was a submissive, but that only extended to the bedroom. He is very much an independent man out of it and he does not appreciate some alpha coming in and trying to dictate his life.

Poor Becks. He really was acting out of character and it couldn't have been easy to find out you had a daughter the way he did. I mean seriously, it was wild! Thankfully when he started acting more like himself their relationship began to make headway towards their inevitable HEA.

I have to say Wyatt's mother is a piece of work. I hope his father wisens up and tells that horrorshow of a mother right where to go. And then moves to Sweet Alps where he can find an alpha of his own with a set of abs to drool over. I can't imagine what a nightmare it would be living with that woman. Thankfully, they do live far away so Wyatt and Becks can be content with their found family instead.

Molly Otto's review:

What a beautiful story of an unconventional mating. When a no strings no-name encounter turns real chaos is bound to happen. When Wyatt ends up pregnant, he decides for once to live his life as he wants and moves to Sweet Alps. Grayson now retired has settled in Sweet Alps to be close to his friends and found family. What he doesn't expect is to reunite with the now very pregnant omega from his past.
When their worlds collide once again, many mistakes are made, but with time and groveling, those are rectified. These two don't have a quick, easy love it's hard earned and fought a great view in the omegaverse. With their shared love of their child, they learn to open up and trust their fated mate is who they are meant for.

I'm not gonna lie read without reading previous installments and had no issues following the story. Yes, it made me want to see how the others found their mates, but it was not necessary to enjoy this story.
