If you like reading sports romance, Heated Rivalry is the book for you. Book 2 in the Game Changers series, with an epic enemies-to-lovers story.
The start of an epic enemies-to-lovers hockey romance from USA TODAY bestselling author Rachel Reid—book two in her fan-favorite Game Changers series.
Nothing interferes with pro hockey star Shane Hollander’s game.
Now that he’s captain of the Montreal Voyageurs, he won’t let anything jeopardize that—definitely not the sexy rival he loves to hate.
Boston Bears captain Ilya Rozanov is everything Shane’s not. The self-proclaimed king of the ice, he’s as cocky as he is talented. No one can beat him—except Shane. Publicly, they’re enemies. Privately, they can’t stop touching each other.
The smart thing to do? Walk away, once a few secret hookups turn into a struggle to keep their relationship out of the press. The truth could ruin them both. But for Shane and Ilya, secrecy is soon no longer an option…
If you like reading sports romance, this is the book for you. And if it's also about hockey, then I can highly recommend this book to all hockey fans.
Rachel Reid's writing style is easy-going, entertaining and very captivating. The story is easy to read and once you've started reading, it's hard to put the book down - at least that's how I felt. The story is told alternately from the point of view of Shane and Ilya.
The author already had me hooked with the prologue, because it made me very curious about the rest of the story. The two characters Shane Hollander and Ilya Razanov are rivals on the ice - they are both rookies when they meet, play for different teams, are both very ambitious and are very hot - on the ice and off. The fans celebrate their rivalry whenever they meet with their teams. I found them both very likeable from the start. It was a hot night that shouldn't and shouldn't have been. But how do you deal with it when coming out is not an option and then feelings come into the picture? The story is written authentically, which is partly due to the timeline of the story. It doesn't just describe a few weeks or months, the story spans years, which I really liked.
The author has created profound characters. Ilya appears rough on the outside and behaves like it, but he has a soft core and it's worth getting to know him better. Shane is a sunny boy who is loved by the fans and whose parents are on his side. It's been fun to watch Shane and Ilya's relationship develop. The chemistry between the two is definitely there and you can feel the sizzle.
I absolutely recommend reading this entertaining and amusing story and I'm already looking forward to more books from Rachel Reid.
