Hard to Forgive by Essie Sloane

Essie Sloane has launched their second series Hard to Love with Hard to Forgive, an enemies to lovers one night stand to co-workers arc...

From the blurb:

Jonas

When I went home with the guy at the bar, I didn't expect him to show up at my office the next day as my new teammate. I really didn't expect him to be a man I hadn't seen since high school.

The fact that I didn't recognize Silas Morgan at first doesn't erase the pain he caused me back then.

So how am I supposed to work with him now?

Silas

Returning to King's Bay to take a new job at my uncle's software development company seemed like an obvious choice. Taking a hot guy home from the bar seemed like an obvious choice. But obvious choices aren't always the right one.

Especially when it turns out that the man I took home is not only my new coworker, but my biggest mistake: Jonas Koetter.

How do I make him realize that I'm not the same guy I was in high school? Especially when it's pretty clear that he's holding a grudge.

Hard to Forgive is a rivals-to-lovers office romance featuring a found family of great friends and two men who have to learn to move on to work together. This book features an MC with a severe anxiety disorder, mentions of past cheating, mentions of bullying, and a toxic father. Please be sure to read the content warnings before proceeding.

Heather's Review:

I truly enjoy the world building and character development I read in every Essie Sloane story and Hard to Forgive is no exception!  Silas and Jonas are great characters and you cna definitely see each perspective on the past and present in this dual POV story.

I think Essie gives us a good representation of the crippling extent of Jonas' anxiety and where his hate comes from.  I also appreciate that Silas does have a chance to explain his perspective.  I would have liked to see more from Jonas' therapist who was mentioned, and maybe more exploration of the anxiety once they get together, but overall this was a great read and I am truly looking forward to the next book in the series!
