Silent Knight (Christmas Falls Book 4) by Beth Bolden

Part of the Christmas Falls series, Silent Knight is a standalone from author Beth Bolden with childhood friends to lovers and that small town charm.

From the blurb:

Of all the things Murphy Clark loves about Christmas Falls, there’s always been one he loves a little more than the rest:

His childhood best friend, Jem Knight.

Doesn’t matter that Jem’s barely been home in years, or that he’s busy conquering football fields instead of hanging out at Jolly Java or admiring Murphy’s carved wooden gnomes. Murphy’s always loved him anyway.

But now Jem’s finally returned to Christmas Falls to be the honorary figurehead of the biggest holiday festival in the Midwest.

Murphy’s hoping to rekindle their friendship but he didn’t count on Jem not recognizing him. Or flirting with him. Or re-igniting the hopeless crush he’s always had for his best friend.

He definitely didn’t expect for his crush to no longer be hopeless at all.

Or for both of them to realize that all they want for Christmas this year is each other.

Christmas Falls is a multi-author M/M romance series set in a small town that thrives on enough holiday charm to rival any Hallmark movie.

Angel's Review:

I have followed Beth's characters for a long time and have enjoyed every single book she's created. I've been very eager for Jem's story cause I wanted to know more about the man who always was friendly and tried to help the rookies on his team. That and I was curious to know how a grump like himself would do being surrounded by festive cheer.

I really loved this book, I thought it was well written, had a terrific plot, excellent background detail and wonderful scenery, along with terrific descriptions of Murphy's carved gnomes which I loved!! Beth always brings so much life to her characters and the way she writes her stories always has such a terrific feel goodness to them.

I quite enjoyed reading about Jem and Murphy's relationship, or rather their slow burn relationship. The fact that these two previously knew each other face that friends to lovers feel, which I love reading about. The journey these two both had a lot of things to work on and to discover, not only about themselves, but each other.

I really appreciated the attention to detail when it came to describing all of the festive events that take place on the pages of this book, both men while at first didn't think they would enjoy any of the events, ended up making memories that'll last a lifetime. I really loved the scene where Jem and Murphy were judging the pie competition. Their bickering and the flirting that occurred was funny and cute!! Plus it reminded me of that scene in The Grinch where he just has to keep eating the desserts.

Overall, a terrific holiday story that makes a fantastic feel-good romance!!

SNik's Review:

Silent Knight is part of a multi-author series (Christmas Falls) in a shared small town setting, but each can be read as a standalone story. Childhood friends to lovers. Dual POV.

Jem is facing the end of his football career and takes the job as grand marshal to his hometown’s Christmas festival as a much needed break. When he flirts with Murphy, he doesn't recognize his childhood friend in the sexy, bearded man, but Murphy has never forgotten his crush on Jem.

There are a few weeks of fun holiday activities that Jem and Murphy spend together, rebuilding their friendship and further their feelings into a romantic relationship.

Neither man has to change who they are in order for them to stay together, and they are both likable characters that honestly communicate in between having doubts of how they can make a relationship work once the holiday season is over.

A sweet crossover with the Christmas Falls series and the author’s Charleston Condors series.

Heather's Review:

Whether or not you've read the Charleston Condors series from Beth Bolden, you'll find Jem an interesting man to get to know as he returns to Christmas Falls... and finds out just how much it has changed since he left... and how much Murphy has changed too!

I enjoyed watching these two men get to know each other again, hints of the past peeking out while supporting each other and eating copious amounts of pie...

This was a heartwarming childhood besties getting their chance at love holiday story and it was a lovely read with likeable characters, a dash of humor and a helping of steam!
