Game Plan, Vancouver Orcas, Book 1 By: Amy Aislin Narrated by: Aaron Hokanson

Lesetiger listened to Game Plan, book one of the Vancouver Orcas, a new series by Amy Aislin.

From the blurb:

As the new head coach of the Vancouver Orcas, Matt Shore has got his work cut out for him. Coming off a season where the Orcas came in last in the entire AHL, Matt’s job is to whip his new hockey team into shape for the oncoming season.

He doesn’t need any distractions, especially not one in the form of a tall, dark, and gorgeous antiques dealer.

Who’s also his ex—and his best player’s father.

Pierce Langley-Brown has a lot of regrets. The biggest? Leaving Matt behind two years ago when his son needed him. Now, with his son on Matt’s hockey team, there’s no avoiding the man who once owned his heart.

Not that Pierce wants to avoid him. And that heart? It still belongs to Matt.

But will Matt choose to keep it after all this time?

Lesetiger's Review:

I'm a fan of sports romance stories and I've read quite a few books by Amy Aislin. This time Game Plan is about a second chance, a trope I really like. It centers around Pierce and Matt, who were a couple until Pierce suddenly disappeared from Matt's life without explanation.

The story is wonderfully written, I like the author's writing style.

Pierce had a good reason for leaving back then, and his story really touched me. But Pierce had told too few people about his health for a long time when he left to be with his son. I found it very refreshing to read how the author deals openly and honestly with Pierce's depression.

Pierce's son Jason is a professional hockey player and Matt is his coach. So it's inevitable that Pierce and Matt will run into each other at some point. The attraction between the two is still there, but can Matt trust Pierce? And how does Jason deal with their relationship? How does the team react? But listen to it for yourself!

I found the story entertaining and I'm already looking forward to the next book.

Aaron Hokanson is a new narrator for me and I really liked the way he narrated the story. I think he did a good job, and I really enjoyed listening to his pleasant voice. I was also able to distinguish the characters well and always knew who was speaking.
