Burner Account by L.A. Witt

Isaiah has been using his online identity to chat with Nick for years... and now he's ready to meet him face to face... but they're both surprised by how much they truly have in common and who the other is when they emerge from their internet persona... in Burner Account

From the blurb:

Isaiah Cole escapes his everyday life as a schoolteacher by debating—and trash talking—online under a fake name. For the past four years, his internet persona has been getting closer and closer to another user. They’re friends, and there’s even a little flirtation now and then… but the guy doesn’t know Isaiah’s real name, and they’ve never seen each other’s faces.

Until now.

Of all the men who could be behind his friend’s avatar, Isaiah is stunned to learn he’s been chatting with Tanner Jeffries, a jaw-droppingly gorgeous forward from his favorite hockey team.

As soon as they’re face-to-face, the chemistry is off the charts. They’re as inseparable in person as they are online, and their only regret is not doing this sooner.

But eventually, the novelty is going to wear off. And when it does…

How much can a broke, overweight average Joe actually offer a hot, rich, younger athlete?

Heather's Review:

I love that L.A. Witt embraces normal bodies and flawed characters.   Isaiah is such a sweet and wonderful man who has been hidden under the avalanche of criticism and the weight of others opinions everywhere except in his online persona - the man he is free to be - sarcastic, opinionated and REAL...

I love that the person he connects most with is Nick... AKA Tanner, a wonderfully sweet hockey player who can look beyond what others see and really embrace the true Isaiah... the author is also proactive in giving Isaiah his chance to stand up to some of his bullies and to truly understand that he's perfect the way he is!

This book is character driven and gives us so much depth and understanding of the characters - with steam, storyline and so much more!

I'm sad this is listed as Standalone, because I want to see more of these characters and I'd love to see the world they live in expanded.
