Punk-In by Ava Olsen

Ava Olsen's latest book, Punk-In is a standalone Rock Star romance that I hope she expands into a series!

From the blurb:

Brodie: My rock band has reached the pinnacle of success but fame has its price. Sooner or later, people let you down or sell you out. Except Ivan Cross. My manager, my muse, my obsession. There’s nothing in this world that I want more than Van.
And I always get what I want.

Van: Four years ago, I was selected to manage a hot new band called Wayward Lane. I knew I was in for an exciting ride - and a world of trouble - and it’s all because of their lead singer, the provocative Brodie James. We’ve always butted heads but lately, that tension is higher. When Brodie insists on an impromptu concert in New Orleans at Halloween, I make it happen. The city, the food, the music, it’s intoxicating. So is Brodie, and I’m not sure I can resist his pull any longer.
Even though Brodie could have anyone he wants, all he seems to want is me.

Punk-In is a bi-awakening, age gap, workplace, MM romance filled with sizzling chemistry, an unforgettable Halloween concert, and a HEA fit for a rockstar.

Heather's Review:

Tension and unrequited love are the order of the day when Brodie and Van interact for four long years, and Brodie take every opportunity to push Van's buttons and then the ghost at the theatre gets involved... this was a fun and interesting read and a great way to build up to Hallowe'en with a little New Orleans spooky action.  I especially appreciate the reconnection at the tend of the book!

I love that Van just takes his sexual awakening in stride and recognizes what he wants when he wants it... and that Brodie is persistent and recognizes Van's attraction before he knows it himself.

Sheena's Review:

Punk-In is a standalone rockstar romance, with a slightly supernatural twist. I've read my fair share of rock star romances, it's something I do enjoy so I was looking forward to this. I wasn't disappointed, I really enjoyed it. I liked both Ivan and Brodie, I also liked how close Brodie was to his friends in the band - so often in rock star books there's conflict in the band but not here, they're a very close knit family and that was such a refreshing change.

I also really liked how little angst Ivan had about the fact he was attracted to a man when he never had been before, and just accepted his connection with Brodie. I loved the development of their relationship, it felt natural for the both of them. Every story needs an antagonist though, and I really disliked Greg. I hated how he did whatever he wanted and just got away with it, with little to no consequences. I loved the slight supernatural element too in the theatre, it wasn't overdone, it was just perfect.

I really enjoyed this and I feel there's more stories to be told with the rest of the band. I'm here for that if there are to be more.
