Hunter's Descent Mischief and Monsters, Book 2 By: Alice Winters Narrated by: Michael Ferraiuolo

Jacquie listened to Hunter's Descent and shares her review.

From the blurb:

Lake: Snagging the hunter was the easy part. Now, I have to prove to him that a life filled with chaos, the most amazing fish ever, and delightful me is so much better than normal—trust me, he isn’t too hard to convince.

But when a group of insolent chimeras laughably think they can target my one true love, they have another thing coming for them—likely death.

With my dubious sidekicks in tow—and Declan, who is as happy as I am to run headfirst into danger—we travel across the country to track down why these chimeras are harassing Declan. But what we find might prove yet again that you never know who the real monster is.

Declan: Yeah...what he said. Except the fish part.

Jacquie's Review:

I have to admit, Alice Winters books are my comfort reads and since Michael Ferraiuolo is one of my favorite narrators, it makes his Alice narrations comfort listens. Need a pick me up? Leland! Now Lake is becoming one of my favorite characters. I loved how the narration for Hunter's Descent was done - I very nearly cried at one point! I also laughed a lot.

Lake though he's a chimera and incredibly dangerous, he's also very kind and adores Declan and his family. Declan might be human, but he's very morally grey at times. Especially when the attacks begin and he and Lake have to decide if they want to make it their business. Even when it turns up at their door, literally, they still aren't sure if they want to get involved.

Spoiler, they do, and it leads to a whole lot of action, some emotional moments and new threats.

Declan and Lake are living together, but their relationship takes on new depth in this book. Lake provides a lot for Declan, like a family and open affection, things that he was sorely lacking. You'd think Lake would be the one to have the most growth, but it's actually Declan.

This ends setting up a new book and I cannot wait.
