Protecting His Pack, North American Wolves #1 by Morgan Elektra

"I was blown away by the level of detail that's in this book!" Angel loved Protecting His Pack.

From the blurb:

***THIS IS AN EXPANDED EDITION OF A PREVIOUS WORK, WITH OVER 15,000 NEW WORDS.***

It’s been less than a year since Lane Perkins left his controlling ex and the big city behind for a new job and a new life in small town Watson Hollow. When he meets enigmatic widower Jared Atherton, Lane can’t deny he feels a pull, but there’s no way he’s getting involved with another man so soon.

Jared has enough on his plate as a single father and Primaevus of the smallest pack in North America. He’s not interested in a relationship, especially not with the aggravating human teacher who knows nothing of his world.

Fate has other plans however, and when a threat to Lane’s life leads him within the walls of Jared’s estate, they’ll be forced to face their attraction once and for all. But will it be enough to save them both from the wrath of a bitter rival?

“An enchanting mix of paranormal, magic, and mystery.” - Kimmer’s Erotic Book Banter

Angel's Review:

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I started reading this, the blurb intrigued me but didn't give much away. I also haven't read anything by Morgan prior to this book, so I was unsure If I was going to like their writing style. Well, you know what? I did!

Once I started reading Protecting His Pack I was blown away be the attention to detail! That mall scene was so well depicted, you could practically feel the chase coming through the book. And those first few opening chapters gave us our first peeks at Conall's adorable self, along with his dad, Jared, and Lane. Along the way, we also go introduced to even more characters! This book was not lacking with the side characters, and while some might say there were too many, I think the amount of characters helped add depth to the storyline. After all, it's not really a 'pack' if you don't have a lot of people apart of it.

Something I do want to mention is I was very confused by the constant changes in points of view. There weren't really any indication who's perspective we were reading before we started a chapter, and sometimes the point of view would change in the middle of a chapter. And while I appreciate getting different characters view points, I wish it was less confusing.

Despite that though I really did enjoy this story, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading this. I wanted to know what was going to happen to Lane, Jared, Lucky, and Conall. I was happy when the two MC's finally worked through their anger and talked with one another. It was sweet how Lane wouldn't back down from Jared. All of the kids that were apart of the story added such an overall sweetness to the book.

Something I loved is how many scenes there were of the Wolves being in their shifted form. I loved that! I loved how at the back of the book the author gave you a dictionary explaining all of the words that were used, and the meaning of them. I thought that was cool. This author wasn't just writing a book, they were creating a whole world.

I do want to point out that this ends with a HFN, Not an HEA. Which I wasn't aware of until I finished the book myself. But it's still really good though! I just have some questions that were left unanswered.

Overall a great story!
