Keep It Together, The Undead Detective Agency, Book 2 By: Shelby Rhodes Narrated by: Lance West

Jacquie waited for the audiobook of Keep It Together to be released, and says it was worth the wait.

From the blurb:

Back again, I see. Well, you are in luck, for the story of, I, Detective Octavius Evander, continues! To start off on a positive note, prepare to be amazed as my precious human, Turney, falls into my hands!

Okay, technically, I already had my hands on him—all of him—but that didn’t make him mine, mine. But now it is time to show how I captured his heart with my lovable personality! No doubt my adorable and sparkly new hobby had something to do with it as well!

But enough about the gooey emotions. On to the cases! There will be a new adventure or two with my team to entertain. Though the adventures this time, well, not all end as pleasantly as one might hope. While I would say to prepare for the return of old faces, none of you have seen them before. Just know that their reappearance in my life leads to an unfortunate event. But in the paranormal world, fun and death go hand and hand, does it not?

CONTENT WARNING: This is a M/M paranormal romance book that ends on a cliffhanger. There will be violence and a main character death—a temporary death.

Jacquie's Review:

I've been waiting to get Keep It Together in audio format because of how much I enjoyed the previous books narration. It didn't disappoint! Lance West does such a fantastic job with the source material. Honestly, the bat voice for Octavius is just too cute! No wonder Turney has such a problem saying no to the vampire.

This is part of a series and cannot be read/listened to as a standalone. It picks up from the previous book with Turney trying to decide about a future with Octavius and if he wants to enter the supernatural world to be with the man.

There is another investigation, but this one took the back seat to the relationship, which is the main reason that I rated it 4.5 overall. I kind of missed that aspect of the story, though I do understand why it was written this way.

Turney makes some important decisions in this book and I loved the growth from both main characters. I also enjoyed Scarlet and Ming-ji getting their own pov's and their potential romance.

That cliffhanger! Wow... I'm kind of torn on if I should just go ahead and read book 3 or torture myself by waiting on the audiobook because I just love listening to it.

It made me laugh and nearly made me cry. Well worth a listen.

Rating: 4.5 Stars
