Fire and Ice, The Death and Destruction Series, Book 10 By: Patricia Logan Narrated by: Michael Dean

"A great story brilliantly narrated." Lesetiger listened to Fire and Ice.

From the blurb:

Thayne Wolfe and Jarrett Evans are a happily married gay couple living their American dream. Their new house, two rambunctious ferrets, and a job they love, make them feel complete. As they walk into work at the ATF the week before Christmas, they’re greeted by friends from the FBI. The idea of a joint case sounds good, but when they learn the whole group is being sent out of town, Thayne and Jarrett’s
Christmas plans with family is put on ice.

There’s been a suspicious avalanche on Mount Shasta, an extinct volcano in northern California. When Jarrett learns that one of two people with any expertise in ATF explosive avalanche training happens to be none other than his husband, he hopes they’re in for a week of frigid fun.

Tapped for the job as avalanche expert based on training he received over 10 years before, Thayne isn’t so thrilled. When he learns that his cheating ex-boyfriend will be joining their team, he predicts nothing but trouble.

Jarrett isn’t looking forward to making a case for a bomber when they can’t even find evidence of a bomb. There are a few things that bother him…a dead park ranger, Thayne’s handsy ex, and couple of runaway reindeers. He’s prepared though.... Jarrett’s always prepared. Armed with snow gear, guns, and lederhosen, the pair are about to face a case as illusive and blinding as a snowstorm.

Lesetiger's Review:

Yeah, Jarrett and Thayne are back! Instead of cozily preparing for Christmas, the ATF in cooperation with the FBI awaits a case at Mount Shast, where a suspicious avalanche went off.

Cold, ice, and snow are in store, and surprisingly, reindeer are encountered. I really liked the setting in the mountains.

The story is exciting, moreover, the author has researched well and you learn a lot of interesting things about avalanches.

An avalanche that no one expected, a dead park ranger, a suspicious organization that you do not know if it has something to do with the events and a sudden attack provide entertainment and excitement. And then the team must also work on the scene with Thayne's ex-boyfriend, who still seems to have an interest in Thayne. How will Jarrett react? And can the team solve the case before worse happens? Because it won't stop at the one dead body.....

The characters are likable and I just really like Jarrett and Thayne. What also pleased me was that Kane Delancy and Luca Price are still happy together - the Witsec series says hello.

Fire and Ice was brilliantly narrated by Michael Dean, as always. It was a pleasure to listen to his voice and he has an incredible talent for bringing a story to life.

"Fire and Ice" is highly recommended: entertaining, suspenseful, hot sex and thrills - I was rooting for and suffering with Thayne and Jarrett.
