Eternal Syn (Immortal Assassins Book 1) by Mia Monroe

Eternal Syn is the first book in the new Immortal Assassins series by Mia Monroe. You can expect lots of possessiveness along with biting, fighting, and a found family that you'll be begging  to get their own HEAs by the end!

From the blurb:

My life was nothing but darkness and pain until he stepped out of the shadows to save me.

Bowie

For years, I’ve struggled just to survive. Life is rough, but I keep on fighting, desperately grasping to a sliver of hope that someday, somehow things will get better.

Between dodging the bad guys in the neighborhood and avoiding my uncle’s wrath, I do my best to avoid being seen. When things go from bad to worse, a dark angel appears, rescuing me from certain death. His name is Syn, and he sees me in ways no one else ever has.

He’s a dangerous man, but somehow I know he won’t hurt me. When I find out that vampires exist, and even wilder than that, Syn believes I’m his fated mate, I’m offered a life I never could have imagined. If I accept his gift, he’ll be mine for good — my eternal Syn — and I can leave my old life behind for good.

It’s a tempting idea. After all, only a vampire can truly love you forever.

Eternal Syn is book one in the Immortal Assassins series, a contemporary setting, MM romance featuring vampire assassins finding love with their fated mates. Book one contains a possessive vampire who didn’t know he was capable of love, a sexual awakening, a wounded mortal just trying to survive, a lot of bad guys who get what they deserve, plenty of heat, and vampires being vampires. It’s a hurt/comfort, morally gray, vicious vampire on the outside/marshmallow on the inside love fest you don’t want to miss.

Heather's Review:

Mia Monroe has taken to writing vampire protagonists like a duck to water... After the book hangover I got finishing her Eaton Falls series, I was worried that she might move on to other paranormal creatures and leave us without her unique spin on Vampire lore, but she has returned with a sweet bite and given us Eternal Syn as the first Immortal Assassins book!

This book takes the idea of fated mates and pairs them with a group of Vampires whose found family and chosen occupation collide with their beastly passion for blood, making them the ultimate vigilantes and assassins!

Bowie, the human who is the first human to be fated to one of these five anti-heroes is a man who has suffered for years and has forgotten what even a touch or a cuddle can be... it's a beautiful story watching him learn to trust and accept what Syn is offering.. even just a safe place to be...

Well paced, beautifully written, this captivating story held me hostage until I finished the final page and now I am itching to see what happens next and how Midnight and his fated love will come together...

Whether you've read Mia's previous vampire series or not, if you are a fan of the fanged and the beautiful, you'll want to immediately put Eternal Syn at the top of your tbr.

Sheena's Review:

Eternal Syn is the first in a new series, paranormal romance with fated mates and broody vampires.

I loved how this started, seeing the rebirth of Syn as a vampire all those years ago, and meeting Yves for the first time. I liked seeing that right away as I really got a feel for Syn rather than being thrown right into the story. Syn is now an immortal assassin, cleaning up bad guys, with the added bonus of getting fed at the same time. I loved his found family of brothers too, they're all intriguing in their own ways and I loved their interactions together.

This is a fated mates/almost insta love story and sometimes they don't work for me, but it did here. I loved how Syn was drawn to Bowie, and Bowie himself was such a good character, the slow reveal of his history and story was really well done. He's been through so much in his life and honestly deserved something good. Syn is quite the flowery talker, but then he's had a number of years to perfect it, I guess. They were so sweet together, I loved that Syn wouldn't rush Bowie, even when he found out about the possibility of fated mates and that was likely what this was between them.

I really enjoyed this, the story moves along well and kept me turning the pages, there's plenty of action to go with the romance too and it's never boring. This is an ensemble cast of interesting characters and I can't wait to find out who's next. (Midnight, please!)

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's Review:

I'm such a sucker (no pun intended) for this type of vampire romance. I just love a broody, unapologetically viscous vamp. One who's completely devoted to their mate and would essentially burn down the world if anyone hurt them. This is a bit, shall we say darker than we usually see from Monroe. Not romance wise. The romance is still very sweet, with that growly possessiveness I can't get enough of. I'm more talking about the gore factor, as in tearing out peoples throats. This is not me complaining, I love this shit. I just wanted readers to be aware.

"𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒚. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆."

I adored Syn. I loved Bowie too, but Syn with his flowery words was just so swoon-worthy. And the steam! Sweet Bowie may start off innocent, but he sure doesn't end that way! And all the biting? Y-E-S! It was also great how all the vampires in the coven welcomed Bowie into Syn's life, most with enthusiasm. They were so happy for their friend. I can't wait for the rest of them to get their HEAs, especially Yves. However, I have a feeling Miss Monroe will be saving him for last.
