Hunt the Wood: An MM Red Riding Hood Retelling, Beautiful Nightmares #1 by Anna Fury &Amy Pennza

Hunt the Wood is an intense yet captivating retelling of Little Red, just better with it being MM!!

From the blurb:

I’m not a powerful witch, just a fortune teller making ends meet. But when my grandmother, the leader of the Rathmore Coven, summons me, I have no choice but to answer her call. To reach her, I must cross the Wood, the realm of Wotan, lord of the hunt. Rumors of his cruelty and brutality precede him, but nothing prepares me to meet the monster face to face.

Because Wotan is more than a monster. He’s a predator, a bully, and now he’s claimed me as his pawn in his war against my grandmother. A master of torture, he’s determined to master me, stripping me bare of all my secrets.

Yet as much as I fear him, I’m drawn to him. His rough edges conceal a softer side—and I find myself wondering if I can be the one to finally tame him. With my life hanging in the balance, I’ve got to fight to uncover the truth about Wotan, my grandmother…and maybe my own destiny.

I saw numerous trailers on TikTok promoting Hunt the Wood, grasping my attention right away, and I am forever indebted to my TikTok community for this beauty!! Never mind me not being a fantasy lover, but this book sucked me in and held my attention hostage, until the last word.

Ryder and Wontan were filled with spice, so much steam, igniting with every contact, an undeniable connection, and ever-present chemistry a person in another universe could pick up on their sexual desire.  And Wontan’s protectiveness of Ryder 🤤, does he have any brothers?!

Either way, exciting first read for the author and genre, and I may or may not be forever hooked. Though, I am excited about Tower’s story!!

Miki J's Review:

Thoroughly enjoyed this book… Initially, I was a tad dubious as it seemed to go more dark/dub-con, but ended up enjoying the story very much. Does have the darkness… but more of the possessive & cranky type (which is quite funny!!) and D/s dynamic.

The world building and background is spot-on and I was totally entranced by this story. I loved the unique telling of the fairytale and I also loved the addition of the other folklore/characters.

For me it’s a very well written urban fantasy/fantasy novel and I can’t wait for the next book!!
