Harbinger, Fallen Messengers #5 by Ava Marie Salinger

Cassius and Morgan are BACK in Harbinger and it looks like the end is coming faster than we expected!

From the blurb:

The wheels of Fate have started to turn…

When an unknown plague starts to decimate the Earth, Cassius Black and Morgan King soon realize
they’re dealing with something not of the human world. As their allies gather in San Francisco to try and determine the cause of the contagion, unwelcome news reaches Morgan’s ears. The Dryad kingdom has come under attack by an unknown enemy.

Forced into making a difficult choice, Cassius and Morgan part ways to deal with both crises. But the battles in Ivory Peaks and on Earth end up costing the couple more than they could ever have imagined, bringing them face to face with powerful enemies from their past. On the edge of despair, Cassius finds hope in the arrival of an unexpected group of deities. Goddesses who are related to both Morgan and Victor Sloan by more than just Fate.

Cassius learns of the twisted threads of destiny that bind them all and discovers the latest peril they face is of Elios’s making. When he’s told by the Goddesses that the only way to end the God of Darkness’s deranged scheme is to find a legendary item lost to the tides of time, Cassius vows to stop at nothing to locate it, whatever the sacrifice.

Harbinger is the fifth novel in the gay urban fantasy romance series Fallen Messengers. If you like your paranormal adventures full of action, romance, magic, snark, and a host of steamy gods, angels, and demons, then you're not going to want to miss this compulsive read!

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's Review:

"I will love you in this life and every life that may come after this one, in whatever form we may be reborn. So, be with me. Be mine, in every way possible."

If you aren't swooning after that heartfelt confession, then you might want to check if your heart is made of ice. Just sayin' 🤷🏻‍♀️ . There are many moments like this one in Harbinger. This installment in the Fallen Messengers series has certainly packed a punch and not just in the romance department. New allies have emerged and bring with them news of just how evil Elios truly is. I think everyone can agree with me that I cannot wait until that man gets what's coming to him. Since the next book in the series is to be the last, I'm ecstatic it will happen sooner than later. I can only pray the man suffers as much as he has made others.

There wasn't a tremendous amount of steam in this one, but there is a good reason for that. We see a lot of old faces come together to fight the plague that is descending upon the worlds. You could feel the foreboding in this read. There are two things I'm certain of. The climax of the series plot arc is swiftly coming, and it's not going to be easy by any means. With a title like Crimson Skies, I can only guess that whatever is coming is going to be bad. Though I'm sad the series is coming to an end, I'm happy for Cassius and Morgan at least. It's about time these men get the true HEA they deserve and hopefully the last book in the series provides us with it.
