Can't Help Falling in Love with an Alien (Tentacular Tales #2) by Chloe Archer

Can't Help Falling in Love with an Alien picks up right where its predecessor left off and is just as hilarious too!

From the blurb:

River

Working for the Alliance is a sci-fi nerd’s dream–aka mine–come true. I’ve even won the heart of my
grumpy-sexy alien boyfriend. Nothing can bring me down, baby. I’m walking on freaking sunshine! Except now one of Kai’s douchey AF exes decides to turn up like a bad case of crabs. I don’t trust him one bit. But I’ve got even bigger problems to worry about. Like helping some awesome aliens in trouble, and maybe moving in with Kai, who’s totally going to propose any day now—right? Oh, and my shady relatives might be hiring an assassin to take me out. So, you know, a day in the life of River Sullivan. I’m sure everything’s going to be fine. Won’t it?

Kai

We’ve finally got a new lead on the drug dealer targeting extraterrestrials on Earth. But the more we unravel in this investigation, the less I like it. Outside of work though, things are going amazingly well with my adorable mate–dear galactic gods, how did that happen? But with an ex back in my life and wanting to be friends, and the threat of a potential assassin looming, things are getting a little complicated. I love River with both my hearts—and all five tentacles—but even I’m worried I might not be able to protect him from the dangers ahead. Also, I need to figure out how the heck I’m going to propose to him. River deserves something “epic,” and I don’t want to let him down. Am I going to be able to deliver?

Can’t Help Falling in Love with an Alien (Tentacular Tales #2) is a (116,000 words) M/M sci-fi rom com and the second book in the series. It should be read in chronological order. This installment features a pajama party date that will go down in infamy, inappropriate team t-shirts, a half-baked love poem, more Captain Starblade and Lord Vardox, drunken shenanigans courtesy of spaceship moonshine, unexpected mating instincts, plenty of new aliens with problems for River to solve, and tentacles galore. And possibly an epic proposal? This book has an HFN ending and no cheating. Never fear—there is a guaranteed HEA by the end of the series!

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's Review:

It's official. The Tentacular Tales is one of my favorite new series of 2022. I mean these books are just so much fun! Between the hilarious River and his antics, the lewd abbreviations, the outfits, all the side characters, the banter, and, of course, all the sexy tentacle goodness, you can't help but laugh or swoon the entire book. I don't think I ever stopped having a smile on my face while reading. Its incredibly wacky and totally out there but I am diggin' everything about it.

Plot wise, we have a bit of movement on the Extraterrestrials responsible for the illegal drug operation. Unfortunately, the Alliance may just be seeing the tip of the iceberg. On top of that, we have a mole. At first my money was on Aiden, but I get the feeling that's what we are supposed to think. I'd be kinda bummed if it was him to be honest because even though he appears to dislike River, I do so love their interactions together.

This book ends on a mini cliffy, I'd call it. I'm left with so many questions and curiosities. What's involved in an Iyaran Sanctioning Ceremony? Is it possible for either of our beloved MCs to get knocked up!? Will Captain Starblade ever admit he wants Lord Vardox just as much as he wants him? How long is Benji going to be able to hold out before finally giving into Mal's charms? Same question except this time substitute Evan and Zion. And finally, I am salivating to know the real story of what happened between Wilder and Zamir. I need them all to have a book, please and thanks. As River would say, GO TEAM A.N.A.L.!

Angel's Review:

Another excellent addition in an increasingly mysterious series. I really enjoy all of the characters and the plot in these books. I'm so hooked on this series, I need to know more. I was not prepared for the twists and turns this book had. I also didn't see some of the elements coming. Which I love! I love it when an author can surprise me with the twists and turns. That means that the story is creative and unique. Which this is!

I really liked how River and Kai's relationship evolved and deepened throughout the course of this book, and Kai getting thrown into a heat of sorts? So great and unexpected. I also really liked not just the new side characters, but also the previously existing ones that we got to see more of. We as readers got to see more of Mal and Benji's will they won't they relationship, we also got to see a future relationship between Evan and Zion.. (possibly) along with getting to know Roxy's character better. I love her character; she is so awesome.

The only reason I'm holding off on 5 stars is cause there is quite a bit of steamy scenes in this book. Now they are well written, I just personally don't love a bunch of those scenes in my stories. However, they didn't deduct much for me. I still really enjoyed this book. I'm so excited for what's to come next. Is anyone else rooting for Kai or River to get pregnant with alien babies? Especially after Kai kept saying it was virtually impossible to procreate?

Overall, a really great book!

This book has great pop culture references and intimate moments. There is a lot of action and mystery too!
