Dancing With a Ghost (Haunted Love #7) by Alex J Adams

Toby and Matty have an instant connection in Dancing With a Ghost - but there's a twist because Matty's been dead for 80 years.

From the blurb:

Toby

Being an event planner, working at my parents’ exclusive country hotel wasn’t at the top of my career list. Quite frankly, it wasn’t even on it, but when my latest venture, starting my own dance studio went pear shaped, it was suggested I give up my dream and join the family business.

It was bearable. The commute was short, but pandering to the rich and famous, finding only the best for their wedding or wake, I was starting to get itchy feet. In both senses of the word.

But things are going awry, I’m finding things in the weirdest of places and just sometimes, I feel like I’m not really alone.

Is it wishful thinking or is there something else going on here? Something, I’m not sure I want to know the answer to.

Matthias

He’s just my type, the guy with the smart suits, and the dancing feet. Well he would be if I wasn’t dead!

I’ve watched him for a while now though, trying to get his attention. Sometimes I think it’s working, but haunting, that’s hard work right there, and trying to get him to notice me. It's proving a little difficult considering he can’t see me.

I have to find a way to fix that, because I want him to see me, I want to join him as he waltzes across that majestic ballroom.

Most of all, I want to be with him. Easier said than done, but somehow I have to find a way.

Sheena's Review:

Dancing With a Ghost is part of a multi-author series but the stories aren't interconnected other than the ghost theme. This is the story of Matthias (Matty) and Toby. Toby is under-appreciated, bullied by his mother and trying to find a sense of purpose in his life. Matty just wants to find his soul mate to get a second chance at life, unfortunately Matty has been dead for almost 80 years and is a ghost.

I'm loving how the different authors have found different ways around the 'problem' of one of the MCs being a ghost, each one is unique and I really like how Alex got around it in her book. Alex does love her dancing theme and that carries on into this book, as the two men bond and get closer through dancing to the old band tunes they both love. This is a sweet, short-ish slow burn story of two men and their second chance. I really liked the story too, without giving anything away it was really well done and for a ghost story, it's plausible.

There's some heat too, once they find their mutual attraction and begin to find ways to be together and it's actually a sweet story too. Highly recommended.
