The Trouble With Trying to Save an Assassin (Murder Sprees and Mute Decrees #2) by Jennifer Cody

Jacquie, Nicole, and Janet all read The Trouble With Trying to Save an Assassin and they advise reading book 1, The Trouble With Trying to Date a Murderer, and a companion novella first.

From the blurb:

Romily:
You know what I’d like to know? Where the hell my romantic, how-we-got-engaged story is. Am I going to get it any time soon? Where is my bigass diamond?

Unfortunately, all that relationship angst gets put on hold when my beloved son, Bellamy, is abducted by a werewolf-ish person I kinda like. Am I going to get my kid back? You betcha. The question is, how many people does Fox have to kill first?

The Trouble With Trying to Save an Assassin is the second book in the Murder Sprees and Mute Decrees Series. It's a 60k word M/M Paranormal Romance with plenty of sass, gore, and questionable decision-making skills, and now there are tiny tables too.

Jacquie's Review:

If you've read book 1 and enjoyed it, then you will likely love The Trouble With Trying to Save an Assassin as it is more of the same humor, perhaps a little toned down since Romilly is used to things.

There's more world-building as each character settles into their new roles.

Please make sure you read the novella too. It's available on amazon or for free by subscribing to Jennifer Cody's newsletter. It's a quick read from Fox's pov and adds some needed context.

There's so much action and steam that I'm going to be processing it for a while. I might even re-read it soon. Poor Bellamy though. I adore the family that Romilly is building.

I love how Romilly breaks the 4th wall and speaks to the reader. It fits his character well. He's quickly becoming one of my favourite characters and I can't wait to see where this series goes.

His connection with Fox is fantastic. Those two are couple goals because they instinctively know what the other needs. They are so sweet together.

I laughed a lot during this and really can't wait for more.

Janet's Review:

Romily, Fox and Bellamy are back in another fantastic story!! The Trouble with Trying to Save An Assassin immediately follows the first book and a companion novella. You really should read both of those before starting this one.

I absolutely adored Romily and Fox!! Bellamy is taken and they will do anything to save their son! The world building is expanded more and downright fantastic!! I loved how Romily adopts another son, lol! So many returning characters, many you love and some you love to hate.

Overall, a phenomenal story!! Well written with pacing that just flows. The Trouble with Trying to Save An Assassin kept me enraptured and engaged! Highly recommend!!

Nicole's Review:

You definitely have to have read the previous book and novella, or you will be very lost.

Romily is his adorable goofy self.  We learn a lot more about all of the interesting species in this world.  Fox is smoking hot, and so protective of their family.

There is a lot more smexy time in this book, and I am here for it!  I also loved the addition of Edovard, and am excited for his story next!

Poor Bellamy always seems to get the short straw, and it's no different in this book.  I devoured this book in less then 24 hours, and will likely reread again in the next week or two.

If you enjoy snark, sass and a lot of chaos, The Trouble With Trying to Save an Assassin is a must read.
