Animal Instincts (Love's Harbour, #1) by Ali Ryecart

Animal Instincts was seriously fun to read. Grumpy vs sunshine, set in a small village in the new series called Love's Harbour by Ali Ryecart.

From the blurb:

There’s a storm coming to Love’s Harbour…

Microwave dinners for one and evenings spent alone aren’t what Oliver Strachan imagines for himself when he relocates his veterinary practice to the village of Love’s Harbour. It’s a chance to mend his broken heart, but starting over is tough and Oliver feels more lost than ever.

For barista Joss Faraday, the excitement and promise of the city — any city, anywhere — is a call he can’t ignore. Joss’ heart is set on a bigger, better life away from the village that’s been his forever home. All he needs is a lucky break and a one-way ticket out of Love’s Harbour to make all his dreams come true.

A clumsy encounter between the new, brooding village vet and the sunny barista is the spark that sets their hearts alight. The two men couldn’t be more different, but the attraction is real. Questioning what they truly want from life, the answer’s simple: it’s each other.

But the past is not so easily left behind. Dark clouds are gathering on the horizon, forcing Oliver and Joss to make a choice: stand together against the storm, or let it rip them apart.

Janet's Review:

Animal Instincts is the first book in a series called Love’s Harbour. Seriously fun to read!

Joss is a barista and cannot wait to leave the small village for a more exciting bigger city.

Oliver is a veterinarian who has moved his practice to the village of Love’s Harbour. They are so different; Joss is sunshine and Oliver is the grump. They have an immediate attraction, but it takes them awhile to get together, slow burn!

When they finally get together, heat and steam make serious fire between them!

Overall, this was a fantastic story. I literally couldn’t put it down once I started it. Well written with that perfect pacing that will hook you and leave you smiling!

Heather's Review:

Ali Rycart can write sweet romance so well.. with just enough steam, a dash of angst and a splash of grumpy/sunshine, Animal Instincts is an age gap, instant attraction, slow burn romance that brings together two men who share a love for animals and are opposites in so many other ways... and then she adds a dash of heat and brings it all together!

It was a book that immersed you in the Love Harbour world and kept you there from start to finish, which means that I didn't want to put it down!  Well written and well paced, if you like small town romance set in the English countryside, you'll want to add Animal Instincts to your TBR right now!
