Frat Wars: Master of Mayhem (Frat Wars book 2) by Saxon James

"I dunno if you've realized, but for us to do this, I'm gonna have to touch your no-no parts."
It's Robbie Harrows. Thorn. Splinter. Pest. Creator of migraines that last for days.
From the Frat Wars: Master of Mayhem blurb:

Bro big or bro home.

Robbie

As social chair of Sigma Beta Psi, I’m the life of the party. It’s what I’m known for, and if it’s not fun, I’m not interested, simple as that.

I’m not someone who overthinks.

So when one of my brothers hooks up with a dude from another frat house, it catches me off guard when I can’t stop thinking about them … together.

There’s only one way for me to get this obsession out of my head and that’s by jumping in with both feet and putting it into practice.

The problem is, the one guy who’s up for the ride, is the last one I’d expect.

Brandon

Being risk manager of a frat house is nobody’s idea of a good time. My brothers get annoyed when I put a damper on their plans, and wrangling drunken frat brothers isn’t how I pictured my Saturday nights of senior year.

I’m bored.

In a rut.

Study, frat duties, planning for the future.

When is it my turn to let loose for a moment?

So when my dumb-as-bricks frat bro is scoping out the house for a little experimenting fun, I throw out the offer like it isn’t the most nerve-wracking thing I’ve ever considered.

I never imagined I’d actually enjoy it.

Jacqueleen's Review:

I thought after reading King of Thieves I knew what to expect in a book about Robbie. I was wrong. He's even more crazy than I thought and I simply adore him along with his cargo pants and fanny pack. I mean the man knits as a hobby. How can that not be adorable? Robbie is so unapologetically himself and when he realizes he might be into dudes as well as chicks, well he jumps right in with both feet.

There's always been something special about the friendship between Brandon and Robbie. They may seem like polar opposites and bicker like an old married couple, but the two have had a bond since meeting freshman year. Though Robbie sometimes drives Brandon crazy, Brandon also knows Robbie truly cares about him. If his reaction to the Kappa prank wasn't telling enough, Robbie also shows him he cares in other ways as the book progresses and it was super cute.

What starts off as experimenting together leads Brandon and Robbie through all sorts of self discovery. They enjoy hooking up. Not only that, but they like doing it with only each other. That's definitely new territory for Robbie who's never even had a girlfriend in his life. I loved seeing the vulnerable side of Robbie with Brandon. We didn't get to see that side of him in any of his scenes in book 1. Speaking of which, steam wise this book is just as hot as Chad and Baileys. Lets just say Robbie may have something in common with Auggie from the Just Friends series. *wink wink*. I really liked how the epilogue is the same as book 1, but from this couples POV. I do wish we got a snippet of Robbie in daddy mode and no, I don't mean the kinky kind 😜.

There is absolutely NO hint in Master of Mayhem that I could discern about book 3, other than the title and assumption that it's about Charles and Zeke. Either way this girl is reading it!

Amy_tbs Review:

Master of Mayhem was everything I could have asked for and so much more. A perfect Friends-lovers and Bi-awakening story. I feel like dancing around with joy.

Brandon and Robbie made my heart melt into a puddle. They were beyond the sweetest couple, I loved their back and forth banter and ribbing each other. I laughed, cried happy tears and totally swooned over them and the ending was perfection. There was so many steamy scenes and Saxon James just has a knack for writing those moments. It never felt too much and didn't take away from the story.

I was so engrossed in Robbie and Brandon and flew through their book, I just couldn't put it down. I could have read so much more. It was so much fun and heartwarming and we got to see more of Bailey and Chad too which was an added bonus. The pacing and development of the characters was on point. It was exactly what I needed to bring me out of my low mood. I thought I would be loyal to Chad and Bailey as my favourite coupling but my heart is a fickle thing. Robbie strived to let Brandon have some much needed fun and the way he bathed in his joy, rocketed them to my favourite brofriends. Master of Mayhem was even better than Kings Of Thieves. I can only see Presidential Chaos being the Cherry on the cake. Totally recommend this, I wish I could praise it more.

🌹“That kind of sounds gross and like I’m trying to change you, but I swear it isn’t that.” “I get it.” “Do you ?” I brush his nose with mine. “Because I’ve gotta say, Rob-dog, I really like the you that you are.” “Cargo pants and all?” “Right down to your fanny pack.”🌹

Heather's Review:

Saxon James has the knack for creating outrageous characters who walk the fine line of funny as hell and annoying as fuck... and she did it again with Robbie... The Master of Mayhem is the lovable class clown of their frat and I love how his mind works to help him solve the dilemma of whether he's bisexual or not... he asks an out friend if he can touch their dick... and when he gets a no, starts talking about it...

From Brandon and Robbie's first kiss, egged on by Brandon's girlfriend, who he was already questioning his relationship with, to the steamy explorations the boys get up to as "Cumpanions", to the genuine love and friendship already at the heart of their relationship, you just want to root for this bromance to blossom...

The pacing is perfect, the balance of 'frat business' and hijinks, parties and private time make you sure you've been transported to their campus... and while this book easily holds its own as a standalone, I do recommend reading King of Thieves to get the background on Robbie and Brandon's friendship and enjoy getting to know Chad and Bailey, because you know that was a 5 star read too!
