Ten Things about TL Travis - an Author Interview

So excited to share some time with TL Travis, whose upcoming release Shadow's Light is burning a hole in my kindle and has for the past few days... but I'm being a good girl and reading in the order by which I must post... so I'll wait patiently while I get through my other two ARCs before I can dig in, and content myself with sharing this interview with you...

Plot or Pants?  Do you pre-plot your books, use an outline, fly by the seat of your pants or some combination of things?  How do you keep track of characters in a series?  Do you keep a journal of your characters’ statistics, such as hair and eye color, relatives, hometown, etc.
I’m a total pantster. I get an idea for a new book and a title then I sit down and let the muses lead the way.

Tell us about your first… published M/M fiction/romance
My first MM was novelette 2, My Servant, My Lover in The Sebastian Chronicles.

The Sebastian Chronicles is a series of five erotic Paranormal novelettes that take you through each century since Sebastian Benoit’s Vampiric inception in 1692. Throughout these chronicles, we live vicariously through our beloved Sebastian’s memories. Via his trials and tribulations, lost loves, and heartache.Neither his exploits nor his love has any boundaries, but will he ever find that one soul that is fated to bind with his for eternity? The novelettes in this series (in order) are:1 – Sebastian, the beginning (MF)2 – My servant, my lover (MF/MM)3 – Wealthy ménage (MF/MM/MFM/Menage)4 – Prohibition inhibitions (MF/MM/MFM/MMF/BDSM/Menage)5 – The Tryst (MM)All five are included in this book

and then your most recent one..
Coming 1/28/22 – Shadow’s Light, book 4 of the Maiden Voyage series. It’s my longest solo published book release to date at 70k!

Here's the blurb: You never know what hides behind sad eyes.

For Javier Jimenez, aka Shadow, drummer for the award-winning metal band, Maiden Voyage, life off stage isn’t all glitters and rainbows. He plays the part of the Devil May Care drummer when he’s in the spotlight, but outside of it, the only person who knows the real Javier besides his family is his bodyguard, Tony.

Lucas Shane never expected to run into his ex, Joey Hayes, lead singer for Social Sinners. In fact, he did his best to ensure their paths never crossed yet here he stood, face to face with Joey and his husband, Stoli. Yes, Lucas made a huge mistake when it came to Joey, a regret he must live with. But no one really knew how or why it happened.

Shadow doesn’t question love, as he loves so few, but he does question loyalty. The two should go hand in hand but he learned the hard way early in life that they don’t always align. Finding out that those two key elements Lucas had failed at led him to walk away, though his heart felt otherwise.

Maiden Voyage series must be read in order as each book starts where the last one ended but from another band members point of view.

Do you write full time or part-time?  Part-time

What is the funniest scene you’ve written?
There are 2 I love. The first one is in Social Sinners 3, when Diamond and Mickey are in the adult store. The second one is at the end of Maiden Voyage 3 when Shep and Jaxson get busted at the wedding.

What’s the hardest part about writing?
Making sure you give the readers enough to keep them hooked. Once you’ve lost them, they’re gone.

Who’s your biggest supporter/cheerleader?
My sons, they don’t care what I write. They tell everyone who their mom is and what she does.

What made you decide M/M romance was the genre you wanted to write?  Do you write other genres?
The writing golden rule – read what you write and write what you read. 95% of what I read is MM.

Where do you find inspiration?
All around me. People walking down the street, a waiter, a commercial, a social media post – you name it.

What do you do if you hit a wall while writing?  How do you combat writer’s block?
I do housework or build something. I love woodworking and have recently made myself a new dining room table and sliding barn doors for my laundry room that match it.

What do your friends and family think of what you write; do they know?
Everyone knows, even those who don’t read it are supportive. I’ve been very lucky in that aspect.

How can we connect with you?
Many ways, I’m an overachiever 😉
