Audio & Book Review: Football Sundae by Daryl Banner reviewed by DLav

Football Sundae is a balance of fluff and angst that will keep you insisting... just one more page...

From the Author:

It's not every day your football-star crush asks to taste your big sundae special.

Billy Tucker

All I want to do is go to culinary school, become a dessert chef, and let go of this small, dusty town - if only it would let go of me. My dad's heart attack hindered my leaving after high school - bless his hardworking heart - but now I've got money saved up and an associate's degree under my belt, and I am more determined than ever.

That all changes the day Tanner Strong, hunky football star and walking wet dream from my teen years, struts into my diner and orders my dessert special.

I know I can be headstrong at times, but I don't care if he's changed. I won't let that cocky athlete's charm distract me. Once the end of summer hits, I'm out of here.

And my heart sure ain't on the menu.

Tanner Strong

Here I am, thinking this will be just another summer in Spruce, Texas with my family and my hometown buddies. But boy am I in for a surprise when I run into driven, loyal, and stubborn-as-a-bull Billy Tucker, still working himself to death at his dad's diner.

The truth is, college football isn't all it's cracked up to be, and I couldn't be more unsure of my future. I was hoping to find answers this summer, but the only thing on my mind now is him.

Billy Tucker. His sweet face. His sweeter desserts.

And the secret I've kept within me since high school - a secret that's now bursting at the seams.

DLav Reviews:

"This was pretty good. The characters were really deep but without it feeling overly heavy. I wasn't layered on with trauma, though it did bring to light a lot of struggles that both characters have that are very real. I found myself more invested in the side characters than I usually would be, and I liked how effortlessly they all flowed in the story. They gave an extra breath of life to the story.

The characters were cute, and funny. The story was both full of fluffy moments and angsty moments. I was pretty invested by chapter 5. I like it when a story feels really authentic, and this one did. I hope to read more in this series soon.

Audio Review: I started this story reading it, but half way through I realized it had an audiobook. I listened to the audio and it made the book FAR better to hear the narrators voices portraying the characters thoughts and emotions.

About DLav:

Hi, I'm Donna!

I'm originally born in a small town outside of Montreal, Canada. But my family has moved all over the world because of my fathers work. I've been blessed to see many cultures and finally settled in California about seven years ago on my own before meeting an amazing woman online in Oklahoma of all places and convinced her to move down to live with me. Being a bit of a recluse, I tend to read a lot, and discovered MM Romance at a MF book signing a few years back. There was ONE MM Romance author there, I bought one of her books, and the rest is history.

I work in finance, so escapism is my favorite part of reading. I'm really active so I like to listen to a good audiobook when I'm out on my long board or biking around the suburbs. My reading tastes are all over the map. I like everything from mysteries to romance though I won't read taboo topics. I will read MF though I prefer MM or FF or transgender romances.

I have a iPad and use it as my e-reader. My partner practices minimalism and I swear she could breathe fire when I try to bring home a paperback to look pretty on a shelf. I have gotten away with THREE paperbacks! But I dare not go for a fourth for at least another year. Otherwise she likes to read with me as well, and sometimes we will even read out loud to one another. I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into more MM Romance books and sharing my thoughts on the books with others.
