Dear Mr. Brody by A.M. Johnson 5 Stars (For Him Series, book 3)

I rarely have the itch to write out quotes from the books I read, but Dear Mr. Brody had me typing teasers in my Facebook Group and on Twitter, and I restrained myself to just the two, but I could have gone on forever!

From the Author:

Parker,

I never meant for any of this to happen, to fall for you. It doesn't matter that we're both adults, or how much we want this to work. The college policy is clear. I can't see a way around this without one of us getting hurt. If I would’ve known who you were when we met online, I would have never pursued a relationship. I'm new to all of this, and besides my daughter, getting to know you has been the best thing to ever happen to me. But I can't make you hide again. I won't. It's not fair to either of us.

Deepest regrets,

Donovan

**

Dear Mr. Brody,

You're right, we are adults. I'm twenty-four years old, and I think I can decide for myself what's best for me. If this is about you losing your job, I'll walk away. But if this is you trying to protect me, then you're an idiot. I want you. I care about you. My past isn't an issue. What we're doing… it isn't the same thing. If we have to hide, so be it. I'm not ready to let you go.

Your Lost Boy,

Parker

My Review:

I love that this book has a parallel storyline between the main characters interactions in real life and then on a dating app, where unbeknownst to them, they are falling into each others words.  I always love when writers chose writers as characters, because it opens them up to more flowery prose, more snark and more ways of showing off the characters insights.  Even before I knew that Parker was a writer, I fell in love with both him and Van, their quirks and their pasts.

Throughout the book, which leads us through a physical bisexual awakening of one of the characters, whose mind was already wrapped around being bi, the story flows perfectly around this awakening and the budding relationship between Van and Parker.

One of my favourite parts is this one:

"I assure you, I'm divorced.  And though I've never had a chance to act on it, I have always been aware of my attraction for men since I was a teenager."

"And now you get to test the waters.  It's like reading your favorite book and getting to experience everything for the first time.   I'm kind of jealous"

This book is the third in the For Him series that I haven't read book 1 and 2 of yet, but they've both been added to my TBR and I plan to read them both as soon as my ARC commitments are done this week!

Dear Mr. Brody releases on August 5th and will be available on Kindle Unlimited!  The Paperback is already available.
