A beautiful and poignant love story about making mistakes and learning from them, and how to forgive the past while building a new future. Make sure you have tissues nearby, you'll need them!
From the blurb:
Sometimes you have to break before you can rebuild yourself.
Devon
I learned my worth a long time ago.
From the moment I was born, I was taught to believe that love is conditional. I'm only kept around as long as I'm useful.
Christian is no exception.
He needs a distraction, a new project, and who better to play with than someone who pretends to feel nothing at all?
The hot shot wants to save me, but I'm beyond redemption. And the moment he decides I'm worth something is the moment I have the power to destroy us both.
Christian
I've been chasing adrenaline my entire life.
The rush of a loud engine, that moment my feet catch air at high speed. My bike and my friends are all I ever needed.
At least, until they moved on without me.
Now nothing feels the same.
When a ghost from the past drops into my lap, I tell myself it's temporary. Just something slow and steady to keep the loneliness at bay.
Trusting Devon burned me once, I'd be a fool to do it again.
The more I get to know him, though, the more I see beneath his mask.
I just hope it's not too late to love him the way he deserves.

Angel's review:
I don't know how to express how much I enjoyed reading this book, other than saying I loved it! Christian and Devon are broken men, they've both made bad decisions that hurt those closest to them, but this story doesn't just focus on those bad moments. This story beautifully showcases how you can re-build after everything crumbles apart, how you are more than just your bad decisions, and how you can choose to have a different story then the one you started with... I think Bree did a really beautiful job of showcasing that and doing it in such a beautiful and realistic way.
I didn't think I would enjoy Devon and Christian as a couple simply because they had a lot of tension and anger between them. As I kept reading though I began to understand that there was so much more to their connection than anger and hurt. Once I was able to see them stop fighting each other is when I became fully invested in their story, and when I started to understand their characters better.
I loved all of the side characters so much, they added so much depth to the story as well as providing so much diverse and (at times) humorous dialogue which I really enjoyed reading.
I'll be honest, I'm not super familiar with the books in this series that came before this one. This book was my first dive into this world and even though its the end of the series, I really enjoyed reading it even without reading the previous books! I do have to say that after reading this book I am VERY curious about the other characters that appeared throughout this book, so perhaps I'll go and check those out some time!
All in all, a really great book! Oh, and Bree? That last chapter made me cry! It was so beautiful, and moving, and it just hit me right in the feels.
Also, I will never be able to think of oatmeal the same way again.
