A billionaire with the mob as a client takes in a sweet student that needs money. But there's something about Deer that opens Scott's heart, and he is willing to do anything to keep him.
From the Too Dear for Deer blurb:
The Titan of Industry Who Can Find Anything
Scott Cairns is a businessman who gives the wealthy what they want. And if that thing happens to be illegal? Who cares? His biggest client is the one he owes his life to—Sloan Killough from the Killough Company. Working for the mob isn’t new, but it makes Scott hesitant to start a relationship. Then, he meets Deer at a bar searching for a man to solve all his problems. Deer doesn’t share a lot about his past, and Scott doesn’t ask. Instead, he puts a time limit on their relationship. He’ll fix Deer’s woes . . . if Deer relieves his. He only has Deer for a month and plans to make the most of it.
The Lost Man
Diarmuid “Deer” Killough is an outsider. His mom only cares about herself, and when she notices her children, her attention focuses on Deer’s younger brother. His uncle and older brother—the only other close relatives he has—want nothing to do with him. When he starts running into money issues, he uses his best friend’s advice and goes looking for a man with deep pockets. He gets so much more in Scott.
When A Simple Transaction Becomes Love
As Deer and Scott navigate their developing feelings, they struggle to open their hearts, especially when each holds a secret. Getting close shouldn’t be an option, but it’s hard to fight the emotions that begin to form. What happens when they find out the truth about each other?
SNik's review:
Standalone set in the author’s New Gothenburg World universe so some familiarity will make this read better. Age gap. Light D/s with pet play. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.
Deer is looking for a sugar daddy, his family money has been cut off, and he hits the jackpot his first night out when he meets Australian fixer and billionaire Scott. Expecting only a few weeks together, Deer and Scott have an unexpected connection, they fill each other's wants and needs while being joyful companions and soon a necessary happiness.
Every moment of Deer and Scott on page together was fantastic, their chemistry, the spice, the sweetness, and the caring between an innocent student and a sometimes violent friend of the mob. These two really fit well together and Scott is respectful and generous until they have a hurdle to overcome when the truth of Deer’s family connections come to light. This was a thoroughly entertaining read, and although full honestly was late in coming, it was not meant to be purposefully hurtful, and I can’t imagine these two not making it together as they get their wonderful HEA.
Heather's Review:
This was adorable! I was a little worried because I don't typically read dark romance or mafia romance, but I always love when Ki and M.D. get together for some pet play, so I dove right in. This book was sweet, spicy, kinky and wonderful! There was some added mafia drama, but it had good balance and it was definitely romance forward...
If you like pet play stories with some light D/s themes than you definitely want to add this book to your tbr!
