The Big Adios: Necromancers (Paranormal Problems Book 3) by H.L Day

The Big Adios by HL Day, Paranormal Problems: Necromancers book 3, is something so brilliantly done you can't help but applaud the author. The finale to a fun and action-packed necromancer series. Asher's only priority is Calisto, even though the necromancer has no clue that Asher is a psychic and his fated mate. Keeping his friends and family safe is the most important thing, and Calisto is no hero, but with Asher by his side maybe they can overcome the danger stalking them.

From the blurb:

Two men. Three secrets. Denial of a fated mate bond. And a future that might already be set.

To the rest of the world, Calisto Dominguez is just a necromancer. Not a man with special abilities whose imaginary childhood friend isn’t so imaginary. Good. One catastrophic mistake is enough when the last one still haunts him.

Asher Baines has secrets of his own. Chief among them, the rare ability of precognition, and the fact that he only took the job at the PPB to keep Calisto safe. Calisto can deny it all he wants, but he is Asher’s fated mate.

When an old foe reappears hellbent on getting Calisto to do the one thing he’s vowed never to do again, navigating their complicated romantic relationship is the least of their problems.

Their future depends on outwitting the villainous O’Reilly, but it’s going to take a lot of spilled secrets, some harsh self-realization, and putting their lives on the line to reach that point.

And even Asher doesn’t know how it’s going to end.

The Big Adios is a fated mates, opposites attract, forced proximity MM paranormal romance featuring an MC who needs to work out how to be less nice if he wants to survive, a man who comes across as having ice in his veins, but is all fire when it counts, a long-dead, sex-obsessed ex-psychic sidekick, help from some familiar faces, and a villain long due their comeuppance.

As this is the third book in the Paranormal Problems trilogy, I would advise reading Deader than Dead or Dropping Like Flies first, or even better both.

SNik's review:

Third in series and finale for the trilogy (Paranormal Problems:Necromancers), best if read in order. Paranormal. Fated mates. Opposites. Forced proximity. Slow burn. Dual POV.

Calisto is a necromancer with a secret that gives him a leg up sometimes, but it puts him in the crosshairs of an especially vile villain. Protecting Calisto is all that matters to Asher, and even as his fated mate denies their connection Asher embraces Calisto’s family and the danger that surrounds them with no hesitation.

There is an immediate deep dive in Calisto and his background in contrast to the little we get about Asher, although it becomes very clear that Asher is committed to Calisto and his happiness no matter what. The peeks into Asher and Calisto’s powers were the parts I found the most entertaining and the steady build to a relationship given Calisto doesn’t believe that they are fated. This is a really fun series with a special group of necromancers at the center and their special connections that are undeniable.

Molly Otto's review:

What a brilliant way of pulling the previous installments into a thrilling piece! Calisto is our shy member of the unit who has more secrets of his gifts that no one is prepared to handle. his best friend Baxter, who may not be in the land of the living, allows him to communicate in ways the other team could only begin to imagine. Asher has known Calisto was meant to be in life since he began dreaming of him years prior, yet has avoided the situation until that perfect time. the way HL intertwines the butterfly effect throughout the previous stories to get everyone out alive was brilliantly done. each event needed to occur when and how it did to lead the ending they had for everyone to get their happy ending. It is truly a beautiful woven piece of writing.
