Spotlight (Famous Series, Book 2) by Eden Finley

With the second book in the Famous series, Eden Finley introduces us to former boy-bander Ryder and future singing sensation Lyric... in Spotlight.

From the blurb:

Ryder

When I quit the biggest boy band on the planet, I was supposed to get my life back. It’s not that I wanted to leave the spotlight. I felt like I had to for my daughter. Her picture shouldn’t be splashed all over the tabloids. I thought I could do this parenting thing on my own, but it’s obvious I need help. I just didn’t expect to find it in the form of a gorgeous guy I meet by chance. I can put my attraction aside for my daughter’s sake. I’ve put my whole life on hold for her. If only he wasn’t so tempting.

Lyric

Working as a nanny is my backup to my backup plan. My first plan is fame, but something always holds me back. When I randomly run into Ryder Kennedy and end up becoming his daughter’s nanny, I figure it’ll be a short-term thing. But then Ryder finds out I can sing. He wasn’t ready to give up music, and now he’s found a new way to have it: through me. He wants to produce my demo and make me a star. He says I was born to be in the spotlight, but I think I was born to run from it. It doesn’t help that each day I’m with him and his daughter, the deeper I fall into fantasies of being part of their family. And not just as the nanny.

Lesetiger's review:

After Popstar, I was really looking forward to the second volume. With Eden Finley you definitely always have entertaining books, because she can simply write very well. The author manages to captivate her readers with her easy-going and very gripping and entertaining writing style. Once I got into the story, I was completely immersed in the lives of former pop star Ryder Kennedy and Lyric Jones, who has a job as a nanny.

Ryder has withdrawn from the public eye to protect his daughter. I found his first meeting with Lyric very amusing and this encounter was not to be their last. Lyric starts working as a nanny for Ryder's daughter and so the two become close. Lyric is a musician, but he has not yet had any resounding success, so he works as a nanny to earn a living. Lyric is humorous, knows how to deal with children, has ambitious goals and is a family man. I found Ryder very likeable; he would do anything for his daughter, even if it was difficult for him.

The story offers humorous moments, lovable characters, lots of emotions, well-placed twists and turns, hot scenes and sizzling passion. The reader can feel this sizzle right from the start and it doesn't let up. I loved the dynamic and the relaxed interaction between Lyric and Ryder. With the constellation of pop star and nanny, you definitely have a certain expectation of what will happen next, but I have to say that the author scores here with an unexpected plot. The story is very lively and written alternately from the point of view of the two protagonists and once immersed in the story, I found it hard to put it down.

I highly recommend this series to everyone. The great writing style and the lovable characters make the reader feel the excitement and I'm really looking forward to the next volume in the series!
