Faking Ever After by Hayden Hall

Faking Ever After by Hayden Hall is an intriguing plot with a fake dating relationship that complicates already complicated matters, but may be what is needed to unravel all the lies. Immerse yourself with the stunning backdrop of Greece and this fun read that will have you wishing for more.

From the blurb:

This trip to Greece was supposed to be simple—play the part of the perfect boyfriend, soak up the sun, and help my best friend’s billionaire boss survive his family’s relentless questions.

I thought he would only be my ticket out of New York and away from the man whose dangerous secrets I stole.

But nothing about Percy Davenport is simple. He’s a genius with a yacht and a private jet but can’t handle turbulence or, apparently, telling his mother no. When I agreed to be his fake date for his parents’ wedding anniversary, I didn’t realize I’d also be signing up for two weeks of shared beds, whispered secrets, and way too many stolen glances.

Percy’s handsome, brilliant, and shy enough to be completely charming, and pretending to love him feels far too real. Falling for him wasn’t part of the deal, but neither was learning he’s been burned by people too many times to trust easily—especially if you’re a stranger carrying a pocket full of secrets.

Pretending to love Percy should have been easy. The hard part? Stopping myself from falling for real.

Faking Ever After is a sizzling MM romance packed with fake dating, forced proximity, and the kind of emotional tension that will leave you breathless. If you love clueless MCs, exotic destinations, and laugh-out-loud romcoms, Percy and Finn’s story will sweep you off your feet.

SNik's review:

Standalone. Fake relationship. Forced proximity. Slow burn. Dual POV.

Making up a fake boyfriend to take on vacation to his parent’s anniversary party, Percy knows he will never live it down until his assistant finds him someone to help. Luckily, Finn just happens to need to lie low after seeking vengeance on the man who ruined his family, and pretending attraction to the sexy, down to earth billionaire Percy is no hardship.

This story, although slightly predictable, was a well written and entertaining read, with likable main characters but also interesting secondary characters as well. Even while trying to stay businesslike, Finn and Percy make falling for the right person seem easy after an unusual start. More background on Finn and Percy would have made this story a bit deeper. Their moments alone together are sweet and the hesitation in assuming reciprocated feelings was heartfelt and made Finn and Percy even more perfect for each other. A cute read with a bit of spice and a bit of jeopardy.

Molly Otto's review:

An overall good read set with a beautiful backdrop of Greece. Hayden did a beautiful job in transporting us to the locations and giving you the feel of being there. Finn is out for revenge on the man who took away his family's savings. When he gets in too deep, he ends up on a trip with Percy, who will help him hide if he pretends to be his significant other. What starts as a bargain becomes more, but when Finns past comes back, it's time for the truth, and hopefully, he will be believed even when he's been lying this whole time. The storyline kept you intrigued from start to finish, and yet the timeline of events felt something was missing. As said, overall, good read. I just wanted some parts further expanded from the author.

Reed Kaye's review:

This is a standout in the fake boyfriend genre.

Right from the beginning the story held my attention.

Finn is in over his head. He set out to do something as revenge but is finding out that his plan was not thought out. He knows he has to hide but doesn't have anything lined up to do this. He then calls his bff Kim and this sets a whole new life path in motion for Finn.

Percy’s life is pretty routine until it comes to his family. He is backed into a corner about attending his parent’s anniversary and he needs a date for it. His assistant Kim comes with a plan A and plan B. Luckily plan A seems to work and this sets Percy’s life in a totally unexpected direction.

These two together are so heartwarming. Percy’s family is extremely entertaining and the interaction of Finn with them is touching. This story is a great beginning to a new series and I can’t wait for the next story.

Heather's Review:

You can tell the author has a passion for the location of this standalone romance... it's very much a love letter to his favourite places in Greece, with a not-so-fake love story woven in between.  With a fake dating trope, an opposites attract plot line and a MC who is oblivious to so much nuance going on around him, we get a slow building romance with a few major hiccups along the way.

I found this book to skim the surface of the characters when I wanted more depth, and the plot twist was not so twisty but I truly kept reading for the scenic descriptions to add to my Greek trip bucket list.  As a travelogue I'll give it high marks and a good rating for a sweet, slow burn romance.
