From the blurb:
From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Becca Steele comes a new standalone M/M college romance.
When I discovered that my online gaming friend was Leo Evans, a student from my university, I had no idea how much my life would change.
On paper, we’re complete opposites.
He’s a shy computing student and I’m an outgoing footballer.
Yet there’s an undeniable connection between us.
Despite our differences, he’s become my closest friend, and I'm on a mission to make him see himself the way I see him.
So I’ve been daring him to do things to get him out of his comfort zone, to prove to himself that he’s capable of so much more than he thinks he is.
Then…Leo turns the tables on me.
He dares me to kiss him.
It’s supposed to be for practice.
But then it happens again.
And again.
It started with a dare.
It wasn’t supposed to turn into something more…
Dared is the fourth book in the LSU series. Each book can be read as a standalone.
SNik's review:
Fourth in series (LSU), but can be read as a standalone. Friends to lovers. Found family. Hurt/comfort. Slow burn. Dual POV.
Leo is a shy computing and dance student that has very few friends but does have a connection with his online gaming friend who ends up being outgoing football player and engineering student Finn. Once Finn and Leo begin to hang out in real life their friendship becomes stronger and Finn is committed to supporting Leo and daring him to help push past his social anxiety.
This story was such a lovely surprise, both Finn and Leo are so likable and devoted to their friendship, really wanting to support the other person, and the dares were never mean spirited or meant to be uncomfortable. Feelings go unrecognized for a long time but the love between them is so obvious to the reader and the supportive secondary characters that it felt innocent and actually beyond sweet. I enjoyed every single moment Finn and Leo were on page together, that Finn was always Leo’s cheerleader, that there was never any pressure to move the relationship into something deeper until they were both ready, and that they loved each other unequivocally.
Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's review:

There is oblivious...and then there is Leo and Finn. These two were one hundred percent those MCs who are in a committed romantic relationship, without realizing they are in said committed romantic relationship. Let me spell it out for you. They spend all their free time together. They cuddle. They kiss. And eventually they also have full on sex. Every single person thinks they are in a relationship. Every one, except for them. It was actually kind of ridiculous how clueless these two could be.
Leo is an extremely shy and anxious person, so it was fun seeing him bond with someone like Finn who is loud and social. Finn was good for Leo in a lot of ways. He uses his dares to get Leo to do things out of his comfort zone. He may be overprotective of his best friend, but he also wants him to experience life. Finn was never forceful and he would never make Leo do something he was adamantly against. It was sweet how respectful and caring Finn could be with Leo. In fact, this entire book was just a lot of sweet fluff and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I really liked that we got to catch up with old favorites of the series. Seeing Leo's friendship with JJ, and now Nico, was lovely. Leo needed guys like them in his corner and like Finn, those two have a protective streak for Leo a mile long. I have enjoyed every one of the LSU books and I hope this series continues with more books in the future.
